There is probably a rotation screen lock in the settings if this is on the screen will not rotate when the tablet is turned to the desired position the option should be in the settings menu need more info to determine where in the settings it is at

SOURCE: How do I receive my kindle books when my email address is different?

Hi,

I assume you mean kindle books you order online (not from the kindle itself?)

They are delivered to your Kindle based on what you have registered on line, not to your email. Therefore changing your email address should not matter (at least directly).

When you say 'moved' - do you mean moved house physically (which does not matter at all) or moved to using a new kindle? Assuming you mean a new kindle, you need to
A) make sure the kindle is registered to your Amazon account: go to home screen, touch top of screen to bring up menu and then press the 'three lines button', select settings. There should be option to register (you will need email address and password - so you need to make sure your online Amazon account has correct email address registered! This is where email change might be causing problems, but can be updated online)

B) when you order books online you need to select the correct kindle to deliver to in the drop down box next to the order button (it might be called something like "Paul's Second kindle")

You can access all books you have ever bought (for this kindle or any other) on Kindle paper white by selecting 'cloud' when on the list of books at home screen.

Hope that helps, if not please reply and explain in more detail what you are doing and what happens / does not happen

on device you should be able to,slide book title to the left revealing the word Archive in red banner.

How do I navigate through my kendle books on device and in the cloud?

Eileen, is this a new problem with a previously functioning kindle.
From your question I'm assuming you can get to your home screen. Have you tried swishing the screen right to left. That action should turn the page. Also try taping the page at vertical center, right side, this should also turn the page. If tthe screen does not responsed to a touch you might try puttng the kindle on a harger. That has solved fome problems for me.

The screen on my Amazon Kindle 3G is partially white and partially black with white lines running through it. It has been charged but does not respond when I turn it on. Do you think it is worth fix

It's broken :(

There are companies who will replace the screen for about the same price as a brand new Kindle BASIC. personally I would suggest:
- buy a new Kindle BASIC for 59gbp;
or
- download any of the FREE kindle apps and just finish your library reads for free whilst you look around for a replacement.

If you want a TABLET rather than a eReader remember ANY tablet will download the free Kindle app so you can read your books on a Fire or a ASUS or a NEXUS or a iPad or anything really :)

Good luck.

Can only get the vertical view on screen. it will not turn to horizontal mode

Drag your finger down from the top to get the Quick Menu icons along to top of the screen.
Top LEFT of the Quick Menu is a Circle icon. Tap it to turn on/off the Screen rotation lock.

(If 1 finger does not work then use two fingers. You have turned on Accessibilty. Go to Settings / Accessibility to turn on/off)

Gen 3, half page of screen saver - half page book. can move from page to page but screen saver is still partially there.

Dear Liz,

If your Kindle presents some horizontal or vertical lines in part of the screen, or even in full screen, and if the image is kind of "vaporous", not bright, it might have happened that you have a broken display (maybe due to pressure exerted on it, by something inside your bag, backpack or wherever you carry your Kindle). Please check this link to see if your problem is similar to those portrayed in the following images:

https://www.google.com.br/search?q=broken+kindle+display+image&client=opera&hs=72G&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=hsZ5Upr2PMrqkAez1YHwCw&ved=0CCgQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=730

If that is the case, you can buy a new display from Ali Express and replace it following the disassembling instructions shown at

http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repairing+Kindle+3+%28screen+replacement%29/11938

If you do not want to do it on your own, take the display and the instructions provided in the link indicated to a repair technician that you trust and have it replaced (I had the same problem with my kindle 3 and replaced its display in less than an hour - it is not that difficult...).

Hope you may find this information helpful!

How do i mark the books to show that they have been read

Hi,

Unfortunatelly Kindle does not have this feature. But the books you read get pushed down the list.
Or you can delete the book by using these steps:

1. Select a book and click the left arrow on the 5-way button that brings up a delete button the screen.
2. Press the center button and you delete the book.

Another option is to move the book to a collection this is like to archive the books you already read.

GoodLuck!

Top portion of screen has black and horizontal/vertical white lines. When I turn it on screen is dark gray and unreadable. When pushed to turn pages, lights up briefly, then goes dark gray again. Worked...

Try to hold the slide key for 15 sec. It will reboot your kindle. If black patch is not gone even after that, It's a hw issue. Screen might require to be changed. If it's in warranty Amazon will do it free. That's what i have heard.
