SOURCE: kenmore dehumidifier runs but won't collect water

Hi,
If you haven't done so already, try removing and cleaning the inlet filter screen which is almost certainly just behing the inlet grille. It may slide upwards out of the casing or downwards unto the bucket area. If this is blocked with fluff then no moist air will get to the cold pipes, so little or no water will be extracted. There's also a chance that the humidity sensor is clogged with fluff, so fooling the system into thinking the room is pretty dry, in which case the compressor will probably not run.
A running compressor can usually be detected as a deep throbbing from the machine. If it is running, but not cooling the pipes behind the intake grille, then you may have lost the refrigerant from the system via a leak. If the air coming out of the machine is warm (caused by the compressor running) but there is no water produced this may be the cause.

Explore along these lines and let me know what you find.
Cheers, D

SOURCE: unit runs but no water in storage tank

Make sure conditions are not too cold or too dry already.
Is the compressor running?
Set the unit to the continuous run setting or the dryest setting
compressor should start.
If compressor runs but the evaporator doesn't get cold the freon has
leaked out.
If compressor doesn't run no matter what you do the board may be bad.
Also the fan must blow air.

Midea Cube 20-Pint Smart WiFi Dehumidifier is stuck on 'Water Level 50%' even though tank has been emptied multiple times. How do I reset this?

If your Midea Cube 20-Pint Smart WiFi Dehumidifier is stuck on "Water Level 50%" even though the tank has been emptied multiple times, you can try the following steps to reset it:
  1. Unplug the dehumidifier from the power source and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
  2. While the dehumidifier is unplugged, remove the water tank and check for any obstructions in the water tank outlet or on the float switch.
  3. Clean the water tank with warm water and mild detergent, then dry it thoroughly before replacing it in the dehumidifier.
  4. Plug the dehumidifier back in and turn it on. If the water level indicator still shows 50%, try pressing and holding the "Water Level" button for 3-5 seconds to reset the sensor.
  5. If the issue persists, try performing a factory reset on the dehumidifier. To do this, press and hold the "Timer" and "Mode" buttons simultaneously for 3-5 seconds until the display panel shows "F". Then, press the "Power" button to turn the dehumidifier off, unplug it from the power source, and wait for 5-10 minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be necessary to contact Midea customer support for further assistance or to have the unit serviced by a professional.

Why does the power light on my dehumidifier flash quickly?

without the model number I cant be 100% sure , but due to your description of the last thing u did , Id say the light is flashing indicating that the water catch bucket is not installed correctly back as it was before , most units have a safety that wont allow a unit to operate unless the water catch bucket is installed and M/T as this would allow it to dump water to the floor if it were not

You may have the humidity extraction level set to HIGH. Try lowering the humidity extraction level to 35% or if you have an analog unit, turn the control knob to maximum. Also cleaning the air intake filter may help.

Hope this helps you to solve the problem and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Kenmore dehumidifier 54701 runs but very little water accumulates in tank. It is 3 years old. It used to take out at least a tank of water every day.

There are 5 basic, yet solvable reasons for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%. If you have a Manually
Controlled unit (no LED screen) turn the humidity extraction knob to Maximum.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder
level
in basement applications . Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

I have a sunbeam 1387 warm mist humidifier. I need to know how to clean scale from the filter. It looks like it can be taken apart. Can it?

Actually, Carol, it shouldn't be necessary to take the unit apart. Mix a 50/50 solution of White Distilled Vinegar and Bottled Distilled Water (enough to fill the tank). Pour the solution in and allow it to sit overnight. Then empty the solution and fill the tank with Bottled Distilled Water. Turn the unit ON and allow it to run for 1 hour. Then empty any remaining Distilled Water. Doing all the aforementioned, should have not only cleaned the filter, but also the unit itself. If you use Bottled Distilled Water in the future, rater than tap water, the filter and the plumbing of the unit will stay clean longer and will require less maintenance.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

. What does P1 on the LED screen mean?

P1 indicates that the air intake filter needs to be removed and cleaned. Turn the unit OFF and Unplug it from the wall, before removing the filter. If you wash the filter in warm soapy water (dish washing liquid is fine), be sure it's thoroughly rinsed and dried, before reinstalling it. Never operate the dehumidifier without the filter installed. Once the filter has dried, reinstall it. Plug the unit back in and Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. If necessary, you can reset the settings, you originally had the unit set on.

Hope this helped you.

Hi

The tank may be full. Your dehumidifier has a safety device that turns off the dehumidifier when the water tank is full. Usually the tank itself either presses against a switch or there's a device connected to the tank that triggers a switch when the tank is in place and full.

If you've emptied the tank and the unit doesn't run, inspect the place where the tank rests to see if there's a switch or mechanism that's not being activated. You may be able to turn it on with a simple flick of your finger.

Take care.

there are coils in the unit that the water folws across, you can take the filter out and clean the coils, this would help, but even though it is only 1 year old it can go bad,, if it is clean inside and everything is appering to be working it might have just gone bad and n eed a new one

I had a similar problem with the pump not working and the water flowing into the main drainage bucket instead. I had to disassemble the housing...not an easy project to reassemble...and found that the pump has its own smaller drainage tank with a float device, a pump pre-filter, the actual pump, then of course, more drainage tubes. The entire pump drainage system of components needed cleaned of accumulated, mucoid, slime! I cleaned the channel in which water flows into the pump's tank...located on the screen filter side of the dehumidifier. Then I moved to the other side of the dehumidifier and cleaned-out the entire pump drainage tank. Note that the pump's drainage tank only empties about 1/2 inch of water each time the pump activates. Thus, there is always alot of water in the pump's drainage tank. Thus, alot of time for slime to accumulate. Next, I cleaned off the float mechanism. I then cleaned-out the pump's pre-filter. Cleaning out the pump's pre-filter was paramount to the pump functioning properly and quietly! I checked that my pump was properly installed and NOT rubbing against its mounting so that it operated quietly. I added fresh water to the pump's tank several times to insure that the pump was working properly and that all slime was eliminated. Finally, I reassembled the housing...not an easy task! My pump now functions like new. All this work had to be done to insure proper function of the dehumidifier's pump system. My dehumidifier is only 11 months old. It is still covered by the one year warranty, but it is too expensive to ship the entire unit, as Delonghi requires you to do at your expense for them to fix it under warranty. You can be assured that I will check for future slime build-up to keep my dehumidifier functioning properly. The dehumidifier works great, it's just that it's high maintenance.
