The side door is getting hot

Hello,
Pull the unit out away from the wall. Remove the bottom cardboard or metal cover that covers the compressor area. Assure that the compressor fan is working usually when the fan is not working the sides of the unit will start to heat. If the compressor fan is not working shut the unit off until the compressor cools. I have used a box fan while leaving the cover off on a unit to keep the compressor cooling while I had to wait for the new compressor fan motor to come in. DO NOT RUN THE REFRIGERATOR IF THE FAN IS NOT WORKING UNLESS YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO KEEP THE COMPRESSOR COOL like a fan constantly blowing on the compressor. If you have any further questions message me back and please remember when our chat has fully concluded to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation it allows me to continue helping others in similar situations in the future. Thanks
Rick

Jump air compressor ac works replace relays same issue HONDA

the compressor may be low on freopn but, the fan problem is most likely the fan motor as it is the low temp fan and will run more often than both fans...to test see if you can switch the fan plugin to the other fan watch carefully that it does not get too hot as the second fan is a safety fan that works as high temp or when using the A\C

Compressor works but compressor fan does not

It is possible the capacitor has gone bad, cause, possibly a power surge. Suggest replacing capacitor first and see if problem happens again then I would change fan motor and capacitor. Good luck on your repairs

Refer warming / no compressor / no fan

If the fan doesn't work , the compressor overheats and shut off by the overload protection.I would replace the fan which will cost no more than $30.

Fridge/freezer warm, water puddling underneath

Hi, clicking sound from compressor, means compressor not running (working) compressor overlay relay is what making that clicking sound, possible your compressor have a hard start, you can purchase compressor ( hard start kit ) from appliance store, your fans could be working, but compressor short cycling, you said fan not working? which one inside of ref, or one near to compressor, check fan, remove 2 wires from fan terminal, use ohm tester, place tester lead one on each fan terminal, if you get a beep sound (continuity) fan is o/k, if not, fan burnt out, replace fan, now if compressor is good, fans are good, then check or replace, defrost timer, but before doing any repairs, unplug ref, excessive water is because ref defrosting, because there's no refrigeration, remove your produce, leave ref. off for about an hour, then replug it, let it work for about another hour, then check to see if temp. dropping (colder) maybe you experiencing, low voltage, let me know what happened, then i can tell you exactly, what's the problem. good luck.

Maytag msd2652keu side by side compressor gets hot shuts off and unthaws freezer i unplug 4 a few hours plug in and works 4 a couple weeks any idea

Check to make sure condenser fan is working (this is the fan located near the compressor). It should be running at the same time the compressor is running. If it isn't, make sure there is power to it by testing with a voltmeter. If there is, replace the fan. If the condenser fan is working, clean the coils and check the evap fan.

Compressor and Compressor Fan Not Working

Rotate the dial on the defrost thermostat, a big click is when it goes into defrost, a little more and it should turn the compressor back on. By overload protector, do you mean the one under the compressor cover?
