I own a Ice-O-Matic ICEU220HA1 that has made ice very well for 4 months, then it started making just a big block of solid ice on only the bottom half of the evaporator. Called a tech out and he found

Replaced bad relay (Ice O Matic 9101084-01 Relay, 2 pole, 120 V) Adjusted delay timer Leveled the machine out

Hi AJ Davis, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? The above doesn't look like a question. If it didn't solve the problem (and I have to assume it didn't) What is the problem now? is it still making blocks at the bottom of the grid? Is the ice at the top of the grid normal, thicker, or thinner than normal?

the thickness sensor is too close to the where the ice is being made. you will need to either bend it out a bit or use the adjustment screw. the latter is more preferred.

SOURCE: ICEU220HA1 ice machine is half full of water -

You have a restriction in the drain line beyond the ice machine and the water is backing up into the unit. You can try some Drain-o or snake the drain.

SOURCE: ICE-O-MATIC ICEU220HA2 bridge too thick. Is the

The bridge thickness on this model starts with the low pressure cut-in control that then in turn starts the timer. To start with if you have a low pressure gauge that you trust what I do is take all of the time off of the timer and unplug the water pump. Then start the unit and watch the low pressure gauge to see at what pressure the harvest starts. an ICEU220 with R-404A should cut in at 45psi. Once that is set plug the water pump in again, put about 400 seconds on the timer, see how thick the ice is after 2 cycles and adjust as needed.

Cooling capacity of ICEU220HA1

Do you mean the Ice-o-Matic ICEU220HA1? I can't find a listing for this model specifically. However, I found data on the ICEU220 on the manufacturer's support site: https://www.iceomatic.com/servicesupport . Using the drop-down menu on the left and then pressing search, I found the manual and service documents here: https://www.iceomatic.com/servicesupport/select?sku=ICEU220%2F226%2F225 . The direct link to the manual is https://iom-stage.azurewebsites.net/getattachment/3d34634e-51f8-40c9-bc7d-ca0c4e6af435/ICE-Install-Manual-11-2016-(1) . The manual indicates that the A means that this is an air-cooled ice maker and the 1 indicates the design version.

The specifications sheet has more information. The ICEU220A (air-cooled) uses about 4,609 BTU per hour (depending on the air and water temperature). It uses 8.8 kWH of power to make 100 pounds of ice. The specifications sheet is available here: http://iceomatic.kclcad.com/Mobile . Scroll down the left column to find the ICEU220HA. The direct link to the specifications sheet is currently http://iceomatic.kclcad.com/ViewFile/IC/ICEU220HA/SpecSheets/ICEU220-Cube_1020 , according to my browser history.

I hope this helps.

Ice forms as large block not in cubes

Defrost thermostat is bad. Defrost element is staying on for too long raising up temperature causing ice to melt.

Ice maker is working, but there is water in the bottom of bin

You will need to pull out what ice you have in the bin to get to the drain. Once you have done that, take a hose and force water thru the drain. You may have to snake the drain if is more than a build-up of ice. Once the drain is working, clean out the bin with ice machine cleaner and sanitizer. Restart the machine and make sure no water is dripping from the evaporator above. If there is, it needs to be cleaned.

Freezer has 1/4" ice on bottom, everyhing in freezer solid rock.

Your freezer should have a drain located in the bottom rear, usually behind an access panel that allows water to drain into the pan under the unit during the defrost cycle. If this drain becomes plugged, the defrost water has no place else to go but into the bottom of the freezer and turn into a block of ice. Clear the ice and poor hot water down the drain. You may also want to fish something (I use 1/4" water line) down the drain until the end gets to the pan underneath just in case there was something more solid stuck in the drain.

Melded mass of ice in bin

The only thing I can offer is to limit the out put of the machine closer to what your needs are.Or bag the ice and store in a freezer. The ice pushing down while melting is what is causing the BIG FREEZE. The bin for storage may be too big for your needs, at least at the time you write this. When the demand goes up (warmer weather) the ice would be used more and the pressure pushing down will alternate as well as people getting scoops out more often this will help prevent such a freeze up in warmer weather.
