Question about Samsung Galaxy Tab on 3 Mobile Tablet PC
Tablet will not power up. battery runs down from no use. it is less than 6 months old. last time we had to trouble shoot to get back on it after a charge this time it is not charging or is just not coming on. any suggestions will be appreciated.
Is the charger working? Have you tried plugging it into a PC?

Plug in the charger.
Hold down the "power on button" and the volume up button at the same time for approx 10 seconds
Give it a couple of tries to wake it up.

Tablets generally do not have a CMOS battery and as such they use the main battery to power the device and keep CMOS settings. Most Android device do not like to be stored with a battery of lower than 14% or 7% depending on device. One this has be reached or passed it can be difficult to restart a device. From past experience Samsung Tab 3 and lower are one of worst culprits. The way to fix this issue from past experience is to remove rear cover and unplug battery for and hour or so. Then reconnect the battery and plug in the original or equivalent 2 amp USB charger. The tablet will think you have installed a new battery. You will loose all date, time, geographic location settings. You should NOT loose any apps or account settings. This has an 80-90% success rate. Try not to let the battery drop below 7% and if storing or not using for a while, I Suggest fully charging it before putting in storage.

A general tip is that batteries much prefer a charge - discharge cycle, rather than just being left. They last much longer that way.
However that's by the by. Firstly, will the Tab 3 operate whilst plugged into the charger? If it does then this is a clear indication that the battery or the charger is at fault and a replacement may cure your problem.
Secondly, is the charger supplying a voltage to charge the battery, if it isn't then it is faulty. If it is then either the battery, or the connections within the Tab 3 are faulty.
However, these are all relatively hypothetical, as after only 6 months it will still be under warranty and I would suggest that you take the Tab back to the vendor and request a replacement, as it cannot be regarded as of "Merchantable Quality". Alternatively contact Samsung, also under warranty.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
