1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme - Exterior door handle is unresponsive (no tension or snapback). Interior still works fine. any suggestions?

The door handles on these cars are not the best design. More than likely it is the handle itself.

Yuppers yer gunna ave to drill out the rivets an pop it off. then take the old lock down to yer local dealer an order another one.

Take your finger and rotate that little gear on the latch on the door, either back or forth and it should work then.

you will need to remove inner door panel and with window up can access the linkage and bolts or nuts to the handles

The hood release handle is on the floor between the drivers seat and the door

You have to find the linkage and pull it. If yu cannot find the linkage, one trick is to go to a self serve wrecking yard and play with one of the 90s olds by removing the door panel and looking at it to see how it works.

It could be the latch, but look to see if the interior door handle rod is still connected to the latch assembly. You will need to remove the interior door panel.

Stick a screw driver in where it would normally wrap around striker at door, pull handle and it should flip open there to allow closing. When working properly, it should snap back on its own when handle pulled so I'd give it lots of lube to see if it will start working properly.
