A few things,1- the retainer clip came off 2-the spring came off 3- the clip on the handle that holds these components broke, either way the only way to find out is to remove the door panel for further inspection.

Testimonial: "looked at it again, the handle is broken where it goes around the lock cylinder, can I just replace the handle or does the entire mechanism need to be replaced?"

The door handles on these cars are not the best design. More than likely it is the handle itself.

'94 Olds Cutlass Supreme Door Handles

You have to find the linkage and pull it. If yu cannot find the linkage, one trick is to go to a self serve wrecking yard and play with one of the 90s olds by removing the door panel and looking at it to see how it works.

The drivers front door will not open from the inside. The interior door handle won't activate the mechanism to open the door. Yet, the exterior door handle will open the door. Please advise! Thank you!

It could be the latch, but look to see if the interior door handle rod is still connected to the latch assembly. You will need to remove the interior door panel.

Doors won't close

Stick a screw driver in where it would normally wrap around striker at door, pull handle and it should flip open there to allow closing. When working properly, it should snap back on its own when handle pulled so I'd give it lots of lube to see if it will start working properly.

The indoor handle of the door no longer unlatches the door.
