You can change the password to your Kindle Fire from the Security Settings menu on the device if you know the current password. You would need to deregister the device from the new email address/account and register it to your old address/account, the one that has the rest of your books.
Once you've registered your Kindle to your own Amazon account you may still be able to access any books on your previous account if you can take advantage of the Family Library option. Information here:
I would suggest reseting the kindle. This will delete your books but if you bought the books from amazon they will download again after the reset. Click menu and then click on settings. Hit menu again and then select reset to factory default. It will ask you if you are sure, say yes.
