I recently purchased a used Maytag Set as listed above because the previous owner, said the washing machine stopped before completeing its cycle. When I hooked it up it ran the cycle until the sud signal appeared then it entered the sud routine for a period of time then when I thought it would start to spin and complete the cycle the F-21 code appeared I followed the check described in the troubleshooting portion of the owners manual ,to no avail therefore the suggested step was to get help so here we are.IT seems to be a good appliance and Ive had no trouble with the matching dryer so any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated Im on a fixed income ,so my budget is narrow thank you very much.
Jose,
I'm an owner of three FAV6800A machines and I'll respond to help because you want to roll up your sleeves and try to save your $1K machine.
1st No direct links Google this Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW
In the Sticky: Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW 5 post down you will find a link to the Service Manual. You absolutely need the Service Manual to DIY issues with the machine. It's not the best SM but will get you started. I also have repair post in that sticky to help with the most common issues that I have helped owners with.
Post in that forum your machine Model which I assume is an FAV6800A (LED Console) or FAV9800A (LCD Console)
Include the first two digits of you machines model number. That is the series of your machine.
Give a description of the issue as you did here. I hope the grinding is during wash/agitate if so it may be something as simple as tumbler removal to clear out debris. If the grinding is in Spin Cycle it could be a bit more work like Outer Tub bearing failure.
The Forum in my opinion is geared more toward the DIY owner as I am and as you sound. The forum is free like this and my support is free..........Good Luck D*ick
Appliance Repair Forums > Appliance Repair Talk > Washers > Maytag/Magic Chef/Admiral/Jenn-Air
Then repost issue if you want to DIY. If elect to call in a repair service give the Service Company the Model Number and they may ask for the Serial Number. That info is listed on the rear right hand side of the console.......D*ick
If you need additional help Google "washer repair forum" and choose any of the Appliance Repair forums that you hit. Post your model number and I will help you out. If you don't have the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual I can help you with that at a true DIY Appliance Repair Forum. I have stopped supporting this forum to many issue with posting support pics and directions at this site. This site it is not a in my opinion a true DIY site for owners.........Rich
I post under dh1200s on that DIY appliance repair forum.
