In order to change the picture settings that affect picture size use the button on your remote marked aspect. If you want to change picture settings such as color, brightness, etc., use the menu button and select Picture, then hit Ok to enter that menu.

Suddenly the picture is to wide for the screen. How do I format to fit the screen

Most sets have, somewhere in the on-screen menu features, a menu for changing screen aspect ration and size. Sounds like you may have accidentally activated a "Zoom" feature that makes the screen image larger, but cuts off areas on all four sides.

How to Troubleshoot Vertical Lines on an LCD TV Screen

<p>There are two prevalent formats for video programming: full screen and wide screen. LCD TVs are designed to show a wide screen picture to go with high-definition (HD) programming. When standard-definition (SD) programming is watched on an LCD HDTV in its default settings mode, there will be two vertical lines on the right and left sides of the picture. You need to go into your TV settings menu to troubleshoot this issue.<br /> jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); <span><br /></span> <span>Instructions</span> <ol> <li> 1 Press the "Menu" button on your remote control and open the "Picture Settings" sub-menu.<br /> </li> <li> 2 Select "View" from the list of options.<br /> </li> <li> 3 Choose a viewing mode that will eliminate the vertical lines. Select "Zoom" to crop the on-screen image to fit the screen. The score on football games on fox and cbs are halfway off the screen. How do I fix this?

Hello

It is likely that you have the "picture size" set to a mode that does not match what the channel is actually providing.

Go to the Menu options on your TV and then look for the Picture options. Change the size between the different options (typically 16:9, 4:3, Wide, Fit to Screen, etc.) and see which mode works best for the Fox and CBS broadcasts.

It is likely you have the TV set to Wide or Fit to Screen. Both change the settings to make 4:3 broadcasts fill the screen of a wide screen TV. Changing this to 16:9 should allow you to see the information on the sides and bottom of the screen again.

LG 55ln5700 picture does not fill screen

Go to picture/video settings and make sure your screen size is set for 16:9 or wide screen ratio.............

If you have dish or cable go into menu settings and check and make sure the same is true

Sometimes on the remote there is a picture size/mode button you can press to change the screen size

Normal or Wide would be widescreen
Stretch is zoomed picture that fills the screen
Letterbox is the square box screen

It sounds like a picture setting problem to me
I would try those things first

My LG HD tv screen has a wide, gray band on either side of the picture

Try changing 'perspective' or screen ratio.
This may work, but could also stretch the picture too wide,
On my non-LG TV this is called 'aspect ratio' under the 'picture' menu.

Stuck in wide mode

Try changing the input device to something you are sure, works such as a DVD player.

Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours.

If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.

How do i adjust the picture to fit the screen?

The wide button on your remote adjusts the picture size. Each time you press it you adjust the picture. If repeatedly pressing the wide button is not changing the picture size check you cable/satellite remote control. Look for the hdzoom# button. There may also be an aspect or format button. When you adjust this the picture size changes and between the Sony remote and the cable/satellite remote you should be able to come to a happy medium. If the picture size still isn't changing you might not be set to the correct resolution i.e. 1080i on your cable/satellite box. It might be set too low or you might be in the wrong input (av 1 av 2 hdmi 1 hdmi 2) etc.

Small picture from player (not wide screen)

Set the all settings to wide, not auto as if the player is set to 4:3 format then this sends a signal to the tv telling it so.Go into the setup menu and choose picture format set to 16:9 or wide. Set the tv to auto and this will keep all picture inputs to origional format. I.E. if it was recorded in 16:9 it will play in 16:9. You could set the tv to 16:9 but it will distort the picture on 4:3 recordings.

I have a T5054 TV and the picture has zoomed in and is way too big, however in the picture settings menu the zoom option is not highlighted in Component mode.

There could be a problem, but verify the settings as listed in the owner's manual as follows:

1 Press the MENU button to display the menu.
Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select Picture, then press the ENTER button.
2 Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select Size, then press the ENTER button.
3 Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select the screen format you want.
Press the ENTER button.
Press the EXIT button to exit.
16:9 : Sets the picture to 16:9 wide mode.
Zoom1 : Magnifies the size of the picture on the screen.
Zoom2 : Expands the Zoom1 format picture.
Wide Fit : Enlarges the aspect ratio of the picture to fit the entire screen.
4:3 : Sets the picture to 4:3 normal mode.
Just Scan : Use this function to see the full image without any cutoff when DTV
or HDMI 720p/1080i signals are input.
Press the P.SIZE button on the remote control to change the picture size.

And realize the restrictions as listed:

• In TV, VIDEO, S-VIDEO, and COMPONENT(480i, 480p) modes, all screen
modes can be selected. (16:9 ➞ Zoom1 ➞ Zoom2 ➞ 4:3)
• In COMPONENT(720p, 1080i) or HDMI(720p, 1080i) mode, 16:9, 4:3 and
Wide Fit can be selected.
• In Zoom1, Zoom2 and Wide Fit modes, you can move the picture on the
screen by pressing the ▲ or ▼ button.
•You can not change the picture size when PIP is set to Double.
•When Double ( , ) mode has been set in PIP, the Picture Size cannot
be set.
•Wide Fit can be used when watching a Digital HD (High Definition) signal.
Wide Fit sets the optimum picture format by expanding it both horizontally and
vertically. For example, you can reset the picture in 4:3 format to 16:9. Wide Fit
does not support all external devices (DVD, VCR etc.).
