Schwinn tire pump instructions

I bought a compact/portable Schwinn tire pump at K-mart and I can't get it attached to the stem of the tire. The back of the packaging shows there is a piece that can be flipped. My daughter and I have tried it both ways and it still does not work! Please help!

Maybe you have a different stem then standard (there are 3 differnt ones..the normal the French and the car )
then you would need an adapter piece between,
after that flip the pice upwards push the pump on flip the piece down and it should atach.

My rear tire won't inflate. My Columbia Trailhead Sport was bought for me as a gift about 5 years ago, and I rode it for about a year, then moved and kept it in the basement. I brought it back out to...

Nothing is wrong, it's just a different kind of valve called a presta valve instead of the more common schrader valve. Just stop by the bike shop and ask them to pump it up for you or if you want, to adapt the rim to fit a schrader valve. If you do that have them put in the new inner tube.

I just tried filling up the tires on my schwinn cf 1000 but all they air drained out and the air pump isn't working correctly. how do i get air in the tires!!!! THANKS

This sounds like what happened to me with my bike a couple weeks ago. Sometimes the tube gets shifted inside the tire and keeps air from flowing in. I had to take my bike to the shop so they could shift it back into place and also replace the air valve. If you have the right tools and expertise this can be done at home, but since I have neither I could not. :)

I have a schwinn bicycle pump and i need to know how to use the bike tire part and not the needle part

The needle part for blowing up basketballs and the like simply unscrews from the bike tire part. Depending on the type of tire you have, you might have to get an adapter. If it looks like your car tire stem, it's called a Schraeder valve, and you should be all set. If it is thinner and has a tip that you unscrew, it is called a Presta valve, and you may or may not need an adapter depending on your pump.

Hope this helps.

How do you fill the tires on this bike. The valve stems are not typical bike tire stems. I am (obviously) a novice biker and have not owned a bike in several years. The pump I bought is a Schwinn pump...

There are two types of valve stems, schrader ( like the valve stems on your car ) and presta. See images on this page http://www.sheldonbrown.com/brandt/presta-schrader.html Since you are asking I assume you have presta valves. You can get an adapter to convert the presta valves for use with a schrader pump. Unscrew the small knurled nut on top of the presta valve to open it, press down and release the small top to ensure the valve is free to move. Snug up the top when it is full.

How do you inflate a Bicycle tire with the small portable pump? the air is coming from the needle to inflate balls and not from the nozzle. It is a Schwinn small portable bicycle pump.

Usually, the needle used to inflate balls is an attachment to the pump. Is there a lever near the fitting the needle comes out of? Moving the lever 90 degrees from its current position should allow you to pull the needle attachment out. The hole the needle came out of is where the valve stem from your tire goes to pump the tire up. Jam the stem in the hole, crank the lever back to lock it in and pump away. Unlock the lever to release the stem when the tire's inflated and you're golden.

How do you put air in the back tire without taking the whole back tire off? Or is that the only way?

I just did this a couple hours ago. taking off back tire will not help you. The rotor is attached to the wheel itself. You need to line up the hole in the rotor with the valve stem. You will need to have a screw on extension to valve stem ( I got lucky and had one). Screw the extension onto the valve stem then use air compressor to air up the tire.
