Where is the air filter for a Goodman # CAPF036A2A

The model number you listed is for the outside unit which does not have a filter. The indoor part of this system (the furnace or air handler) is what has the air filter. The size varies because the installer usually makes a bracket to hold the filter when the furnace is installed. Need to locate the filter and replace it with the same one. Size should be marked on the old filter.

Check the thermostat set up ..some has to be switched either by set switch on back or through the initial set up program of gas furnances. It appears as though it is set on a short cycle by default. Follow the instructions to the T. Make sure you have the proper thermostat for your type unit. some are for gas, some are for heat pumps, some are for oil, others are switchable with settings.

it will behind return air grille either in the room, ceiling, & i have seen them in attic in return plenum.

Since the motor is humming we know it is recieving voltage, try spinning the blower wheel by hand and see if the motor starts up, if it does the capacitor needs to be replaced, if not the blower motor needs to be replaced.

You can reset the controls by cycling the power off and then on again...

There also is a reset by the burner and one by the blower...push in the little red button in the center on the limit switch...

Without more info I am guessing you have an air flow problem.ckeck filter and return air duct

Your filter is in one of two places.

Either its in a filter grille or its at the furnace/air handler itself. If its in the grille, simply remove and replace.

If its in the unit, it will be at one far end of the unit opposite where the electrical connections are. It's uncommon for Goodman to be filtered at the unit as they do not have an independent filter access panel but I have seen it.

If its not in either of these locations, you either do not have a filter installed or your installing contractor has installed a filter box somewhere that will need to be located.
