Battery has nothing to do with the touchscreen, unless you disconnected it to the main board while changing the battery. This is a common problem with this series. Usually caused by a failed touchscreen. Please see this link for more info. Too much info to retype here.
when purchasing a brand new battery usually you have to fill it with acid then you actually have to charge it, you just cant hook it up and go. after doing that double check the battery cables make sure it has a solid ground then i would check the fuse box and make sure all the fuses are good then i would check the ignition switch make sure nothing is grounding out. hope this helps
Just purchased so it is under guarantee, but change the batteries with some batteries you know that are working, get the ones from your TV remotes ect Please rate our solutions and if you still have problems please call back for more ideas to help you

Did you try to disconnect the battery and connect you mac book to the charger? If it turns on with the power connected and without the battery, probably your battery is broken.
