The switch you push activates a couple of things. One is a solenoid that opens the door the other is a relay that moves the ice to the crusher.

Since you aren't hearing any sound....and are not getting any ice, I would suspect the switch is bad.....

But before you start taking things apart....try pushing it with your finger rather than a glass.

Check for the length of travel? can you feel or hear a switch click?

My Maytag Fridge Ice Dispenser stuck on crushed ice, so no whole cubes can dispense. What can I do?

If you look at the bottom out side area of the ice cube bucket/auger assembly, you will see a metal rod going front to back. That is the shift rod for cubes/crushed ice. Make sure it is free. Then look at the back of the refrigerator where the end of that rod goes into a square hole. There is a magnetic solenoid in that hole that shifts the rod for selection. The solenoid coil is either bad, unplugged, or for some reason stuck and not shifting that rod. That's where the problems is located.

LG LSC26905 makes ice, but will not dispense through door. Ice backs up on inside of freezer door when attempting to dispense ice (crushed and whole cubes). Water dispenses OK. Any help? Thanks.

Sounds like the flap or door directly above where the cup would be is not opening. Press lever and look up in there, if that is the case there is a problem inside the door.

I have a Kenmore side by side, not sure the model, but it's probably 10 years old or so. It has an ice maker with water, cube and crushed ice dispenser. The ice maker works fine, but it will not dispense...

Most of the time the bin has been removed and not put back in properly. When this happens ice blocks the drive motor. Remove the bin and turn the auger by hand make sure it will turn and is not jammed. Now with the bin out push the light button in that turns the light out and have someone push the button for ice while the door is still open the motor should turn in the back make sure thereis no ice blocking it. If it turns nothing is wrong with the motor. The clicking sound is usually the motor jammed by ice or the auger not engaged on the motor. hope this helps good luck

I have the exact same problem. Ice maker works but nothing at the water dispenser. The light come on when I press the lever and I hear a click. But nothing like water "trying" to be pumped. I am nervous it is more than just a frozen water line. Anyone else have this problem or a solution?

Ice maker not dispensing ice

If the dispensor light switches to cubed or crushed , the panel is good . Remove the ice bin , and hold the light switch in . Press the arm for CRUSHED ice , and if you hear a buzzing or hum , then the auger motor is frozen . Use a hair dryer directly on the " forks " for a while , ocasionally holding switch and activating arm , until the forks move . Lower the freezer temp slightly and reinstall the ice bin .

Side by side won't dispense ice.

Take the ice container that has the auger inside it and press the door switch in while you press the dispenser. If the auger motor in the back works empty the ice container and see if there may be frozen ice preventing it from turning. If yes then defrost and dry the container and replace. If this does not solve the problem get me your model number for example 213.256489 for Sears and I will help you track the problem down. Sea Breeze

Ge, tfx26kpda ww, ice maker only dispences crushed ice

At least yours is making ice. Mine wount even make ice. While toubleshooting my prob, I notice a metal rod on the bottom of the ice tray. This rod opens and shuts a plastic "trap door" in the tray. The position of that door determines whether the ice is crushed or whole. If the trap door is open the ice falls through the dispenser freely. If the door this closed the ice is force thorugh metal teeth where it is crushed then dispensed. Open the freezer door and take the ice tray out. You should see a hole at the back of the freezer that the metal rod goes through. In that hole there is a plastic square that moves up and down. If the set your dispenser to crushed ice, leave the door open, push in the door switch at the bottom, and press the dispenser. The plastic square does nothing while the motor is turning. That allows the door to stay closed and forces the ice through the metal teeth. If you set the dispenser to whole ice and do the same thing the plastic square is suppose to lift up forcing the door open and letting the whole ice drop freely. The plastic square probably does nothing even if you set it to whole ice. That mean the trap door never opens focing the ice to always get crushed.

Unfortunately, I have no solution because mine works and I had no need to investigate further. I hopes this helps you figure out the problem though

Good Luck.

Admiral Fridge Freezer

We had thought this was a free service...??? Yes, we fixed it ourselves, after trial and error. We pulled out the ice bin and there is an arm that is moves back and forth beside it. It had frozen up. That is the ice crusher. Thaw it out and it is fixed. By the way, the above posting was not by us--ours stated that our ice crusher did not crush ice anymore. Instead, cubes came out...
