Protection mode is now ON. If you know how to set it OFF, can do.
I would start looking for a new set, replacement parts for that set are pricey. Trust me, I just recycled a P50HDTV10A that had a busted screen. I couldn't believe what the parts sold for !!! I don't know your preference LCD or PLASMA, but prices have really come down. So if it's in you budget, treat yourself to a new TV !!! Whatever you do, don't just toss the old set in the trash, toss that puppy on Craigslist and If you can get $50-$70 for it, take the money and run !!!
Based on what you have tried if a buzz or loud static via the speakers you have something wrong in the audio output circuit of the set--problem here is that circuit may be part of the Main board that processes all signal---a look inside---following the speaker leads back would lead you to that board.
A simple thing to do to narrow it a little (you may have done this) is with sound all the way off put your ear to the internal speaker--hear anything at all like a deep hum?
Depending on age of set and cost of the board likely bad it may or may not be a do it yourself repair.
The tv have fries alot more components on the tv power supply board, than just the fuse.U have to have alots more equipments and very good eclectronic testing and troubleshooting skills to find out what exact components parts are burn and to replaced it on the tv power supply board.U could take a gamble chance and try website like Ebay.com to buy a whole new refurbish power supply board for the replacement.Might get the tv to be working again might not because power surges,if it have a big enough electrical static charges it will fries alots more boards and it components some where else too.Tv worth repairing or not it is up to u for to do the researching for the new tv prices and the prices charges by tv repair shops by those tv Techs. for repairing the tv..
Try it on a diffrent TV I would not touch a plasma with a ninteno WII but obvioulsy we are two diffrent humans there is nothing wroung with using it with a plasama except you could cause damage with static images not a good thing. If this works on a diffrent tv then the plasma does not like it period. If you get the same on another TV I would return the new unit back to the new store where you bought it from.
