The Jensen JS650 does not accept line level input so you need to use the Front B speaker output from your Sony receiver and not the RCA subwoofer output. Even though your subwoofer is active, it does not support line level (RCA) signals.

Just connect the subwoofer as you would a pair of speakers. Once connected, you make sure the front panel speaker switch on the Sony is set to A+B so you get sound from your existing speakers (A) and subwoofer (B).

I hope that works for you.

SOURCE: sony str-de-545 a/v receiver

Just answered that question for you in another post, but here it is again in case you miss it.

Hi there, Is the socket actually broken, or is it just playing up. It may just need some dry solder joints reflowed to fix it. If you are lucky, this may be done without a full strip down.

If you need to replace it, you will have to pull the board out of the unit, or at least the back panel completely off to get access to the soldering of the socket to replace it. This is not a difficult job, but often requires almost complete disassembly of the amp to do so. Time consuming...yes. It is something that unless you have some confidence at dismantling and reassembly gear, I would suggest that you refer it to a repair man. Good luck, I am happy to answer any more questions you may have.

regards
Graeme

SOURCE: Can I connect a active subwoofer to my SONY

Yes, it only supports an Active Subwoofer. That's what the Sub Pre-Out is for.

Your sub will take that input, possibly split to two RCA connectors, and its internal amplifier will do the rest. Its own manual will give the specifics.

SOURCE: HELLO HOW TO CONNECT SUBWOOFER TO SONY

It would depend a lot on what type of subwoofer you have and it wouldn't be pretty.

According to the manual I found it doesn't have a Woofer Output so it isn't designed to route Low Frequencies anywhere.

Even if you rigged an Active Subwoofer to it using the Tape Output you wouldn't have central volume control for it unless the (unnamed) Sub was driven by speaker-level outputs from the Front A or B Speaker posts on the receiver.

Your question would be better framed and answered if we knew the details of the Sub and referred to ITS manual.

SOURCE: Can't get subwoofer working with sony model STR-DE845 receiver

read the manual

First, it must be a self-powered subwoofer, then you've got some settings to select in the receiver.

I have a Sony STR-DE597 FM/AM Receiver .It has audio out plug and i have a Jensen js650 100 watt Subwoofer. how can i hook them up. Thanks.

The reason you may find it difficult to connect the Sony Receiver to the Jensen JS650 is that the JS650 does not have a line level input (RCA) to match the RCA subwoofer output of the STR-DE597 receiver. In this case, all you need to do is connect an extra set of speaker wires from the "Speaker B" Left and Right speaker connections on the back of the Sony to the speaker input connectors on the Jensen. On the front panel of the Sony, select speakers A+B settings so that the subwoofer is on in parallel with the front speakers.

I hope this answer is helpful to your home system set up.

I have the sony str-de1075 reciever.i want to hook up a sub-woofer.but it only has 2 single port.not your reg.rca ports.what do i do..thanks..

Sorry but it's not clear enough what kind of subwoofer (passive or active) you want to use. The passive one has no power supply connection, the active one has a power supply connector and the audio connector can be connected at the "audio out" for the subwoofer, at the rear panel of your STR-DE1075. Take a look at this photo:

No sound when hooking receiver to subwoofer using standard red RCA cable. Do I need a subwoofer cable?? I have turned my tuner subwoofer to YES, powered up receiver and subwoofer but nothing.

Probably not if it takes RCA input, but the receiver needs to be informed of the sub's presence and hw you want to share low frequencies among the rest of the speakers and itself. Then you need to set the relative levels using test tones, which also proves the sub works.

How can i get the dts sound field to work. Shouldn't it automatically switch to that sound field. I have a samsung bluray dvd that hooked up to it.  The dolby pro logic and pro logic 2 indicator...

If you are playing media that has both dolby digital audio and dts audio, your player and your receiver will decode the first audio codec listed first by default unless you select it otherwise yourself. If your remote or receiver has an A.F.D. (auto format decode) button, press it until your display shows that the sound source is dolby digital or DTS, whichever sound mode it was you wanted when you started your DVD.
