I have a kenmore 80 series mod 110.21882000 It fills up with water and hums It will not empty the water. I change settings and speeds and nothing happens. I replaced the lid switch a few months ago. And today I replaced the motor coupling. While I had motor off I did spin the motor to make sure it was spinning freely it felt ok. What should I do next
Look inside the pump. Smething might be in it. If you incorrectly installed the couplings too tight against the tranny or motor then the resulting bind will cause the problem.

Are you sure the water is on and water is getting to the machine.
If there is no water the water valve will open & hum & nothing else will work till the tub is full.Check the little screens on the water valve behind the hot & cold hoses where they hook up the the machine they get clogged
up sometimes just pull them out and clean them. Hope this helps you
This is usualy caused by the cold water not entering the machine. If you hear a humming noise it means the fill valve is operating but no water is present. Has some one turned the cold water off? Failing that the fill valve may be faulty and need replacing.
the lid switch under the control panels bad replace it and it will again wash, they just unsnap out of the top of the cabinet after you remove the control panel
if your washer will agitate when set to fill but not fill, then your pressure switch is bad. also you may want to check and see if you are getting both hot and cold to your washer.
This sounds like a broken coupler gear. I'm having the same problem with my Kenmore-80 Series. The machine fill up, pump out, but when I try to spin I get nothing and the I can hear the motor humming/grinding. I've heard the coupler gear is not expensive $35 or so and the repair procedure is not difficult, but I can't locate how to fix it. If you find any additional information, please send my way. I don't want to pay $150 or so to have it serviced.
