Is the receiver even turning on? If it is, listening carefully to the top cover, with the room quiet. Do you hear 1 click, or two?

Check that someone has not turned on the tape monitor or mute. Both of these may cause the problem. Is there alot of noise with the sound you are getting when you turn it up?

SOURCE: JVC AX-66 Integrated Amplifier seems to be muted?
You need to have a jumper between the 4 standalone jacks on the right side of the column of stereo connectors. A stereo RCA cable would work for this.
