Max Paper Weight

I need to know the maximum paper weight the phaser 8400 can work with. We have used 65 lb in the past and are hoping it would be able to take 120 but need to know before we try. Also, if it is not able to take heavy paper weight and we have already used 65 lb paper in this printer, are there specific signs to watch for to correct any damage we might have done. thanks

My Konica-Minolta-Bizhub-C350-Color-Copier-Printer paper keeps jamming, why?

well could be several reason incorrect paper size incorrect paper weight are you running Thick 1 or Thick 2 to paper. Do you know how to read paper weight? on out side of the paper package is words 20lb or 36lb mite also see the something like 75 g/m2 that is the weight of paper in the metric world (Every one else except the GOOD OLD USA.:):):) we use the lb. system . select paper on the control panel and make sure the paper weight matches most paper copy are putting both lb. and metric but if it is only metric then use the control panel to figure it as you select the thick 1 or 2 you will see the g/m2 on the control panel, if you using paper off the shelve and don't know then call the company where you get the paper from and ask them. Are using the bypass tray make sure that you follow the icon on the screen when it says load paper in the by pass tray does the little icon show portrait or landscape. if you using legal size paper did you pull out the extention tray to allow additional sensor to come into play for the longer paper. Does you print properties on the computer screen match what is in the draws? IF the paper come wrapped an only has lb. # then you will not find it on the control panel you need to get your operation manual out in that manual will be a chart that show what lb. # equals what thick 1 or thick 2.

I wish to use my HP Photosmart C8180 to print heavy weight cardstock... is there a setting that I can select to do this?

Step Three: Check the paper type Verify that only recommended paper is being used for printing. The recommended paper types and weights for most HP printers include:
  • Plain paper, 20 to 24 lb (75 to 90 gsm)
  • Legal size paper, 20 to 24 lb (75 to 90 gsm)
  • Card stock, up to a maximum of 110 lb (200 gsm)
  • Envelopes, 20 to 24 lb (75 to 90 gsm)
  • Photo paper, 145 lb (236 gsm)
NOTE: Supported paper weights and types vary by product. Check the Specifications sheet for your product for more information.

If you use card stock up to a maximum of 110lb then there should be no special mode to enter to print on this type of paper. Photo paper weighs in at 145 lb maximum which is heavier and can be printed on without selecting any special 'mode.'

Good luck on printing on heavy card stock.

Hp9300 not feeding thick paper

Based on the Media weight for a HP Deskjet 9300
The Main Tray can support up to 36 lb bond.
The Manual Tray in the Back can support up to 70 lb bond via a single sheet.
You must check the weight of the thick paper you are using to make sure your using the correct weight.

What is the maximum paper weight allowable for the HP LaserJet 2840 printer? I am printing recipe cards but 4x6 or 3x5 cards are too heavy and the printer won't take them.

Handle a variety of business needs. Spend less time loading
paper with an input capacity of up to 375 sheets. A 125-sheet
multipurpose tray and a 250-sheet paper tray offer easy
access to a variety of paper finishes, sizes, and types,
including labels and envelopes, at weights of up to 47 lb
(177 g/m2) and HP laser glossy and photo papers up to 70 lb
(220 g/m2).1

WHEN I PUT THE BLANK PAPER AND PRESS PRINT, THE PAPER DOES NOT GO DOWN FULLY AND IT GETS STUCK. I DID TRY SHAKING IT AND PASSING A PIECE OF PAPER THROUGH AND UNDER AND NOTHING YET. ANY SUGGESTIONS

It sounds like your paper stock may be too thick for the printer. Many printers do not handle paper heavier than about 26 lb. without some problems. The issue is the paper-rollers are not sufficiently strong to grab the paper, bend it toward the paper path, and then feed the paper into the machine.

Try using a lighter weight paper - 20 to 24 lb. max., and see if the printer does a better job for you!
