Here is a more detailed question of the problem that I have caused myself. I opened up the top of my hobart a200 table top mixer because it was grinding pretty loudly. Ordered the proper grease and packed in in there. The old grease looked pretty good so I left most of it in. Anyway after putting it back together only first gear works. The transmission will shift into second but is real tight going into third. The problem is its not shifting gears,. Regardless of which gear I put it in it continues to run in first. What's the solution?

It is a Start Capacitor. It give the motor a jolt to get it running.

replace the speed select switch

only adjust ment is top nut tight on center shaft and botton two nuts finger tight then locked against each other. if shifting issue is still a problem you have something inside bad or wrong.

The bowl holds 20 quarts--are you overloading the mix?This mixer is not made for medium/heavy pizza dough.Depending on the pounds of dough,water and other ingredients will affect the mixer in some way.

sorry to hear of your misfortune,im a hobart tech and i can tell you right off the bat it would be almost impossible to tell you the solution unless i seen the mixer.be more specific about the noise and where you think its coming from,if its in the transmission i could walk you thru it but it would be a task.first thing to check is that there are no cracks on the mixer.all speeds work?1-2-3.
