I have an acer PC keyboard and have NO CLUE how to use the boxed options, ie, Print screen. I have tried CTRL,ALT, Insert (the same key as print screen); CTRL, V, Insert; CTRL, Fn, Insert; simple Shift, Insert. Nothing
Re: How do i use the boxed options on certain keys?
Prt SC (Print Screen) does NOT send the screen to the printer!!
If your windows desktop is showing, Print Screen will capture the ENTIRE screen to the clipboard - Open Paint and Ctrl-V to paste the captured image into paint (or other graphics program).
If you want to capture only the active screen, use Alt-Prt Sc and do the same with it. Take screen capture print your screen Windows Help Print screen Wikipedia the free encyclopedia

You need to press PrtScr or Print Screen button to capture the screen to the clip board. I believe on your laptop you need to hold the fn key down to select it. On the bottom left of the keyboard is a key that has fn on it. Any key on your keyboard that has a second function will need the fn key to access this second option. PrtScr button should be on the top row right hand side of the keyboard with a box drawn around it.
Hold down the fn key and press the PrtScr key and then you can paste it into a document or paint or whatever. The PrintScreen function works in all versions of windows I have ever used, from Windows 3.11 for workgroups to Windows 8.
1. Restart the Acer Aspire netbook by pressing the "power"
button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL"
keys at the same time.
2. During startup, hold down the "F8" function key
immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering
"Setup."
3. Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot
Options" menu appears.
If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire
and repeat step 2.
4. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode"
selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.
The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the
Acer Aspire keyboard.
5. Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode"
selection.
The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode"
and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer
Aspire to boot normally again.
see this and proceed . God bless you

Try system restore. Go to START>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS>SYSTEM RESTORE>CHOOSE PREVIOUS RESTORE DATES. Use other restore dates if needed.
Or try this
If your laptop keyboard types wrong characters, it is rather a software issue than an hardware one. This can happen if you accidentally press certain keys on your keyboard, which enable a certain kind of function.
Try the following steps in case your laptop keyboard displays wrong characters: 1.Go to the control panel option Click ? 'Regional and Language Services' ? 'Languages' ? 'Details' ? 'Key Settings' 2.Select the option 'Switch Between Input Languages' and click on 'Change Key Sequence' 3.Ensure that all the check boxes are unchecked in this window and do the same for 'Switch to...(Keyboard Type)' 4.Click ? 'Ok' ? 'Ok' ? 'Apply' ? 'Ok'.
This should solve your problem
If the @ symbol does not show up, but the " shows up instead, then
there is a language change on the keyboard. It can be remedied by going
to the control panel and changing the location and keyboard settings
fromEnglish-United KINGDOM" to English-United States. Also check the
procedure below and make sure this is done.
Go to control panel, click on accessibility options..in the keyboard
tab, click on the settings buttons for sticky keys, filter keys and
toggle keys and deselect the option to use shortcut..hopefully this
will help you and other people that have had this problem.
Your regional settings may be UK but the keyboard setting is USA..
Go back into Control Panel/Regional and Language Options/. Click on the language tab and then the language button and alter the keyboard language there to UK
sounds like filter keys is on go to start-controle panel go to accessibility options then click on accessibility options agai (should be the only option with an icon beside it) a small window with 5 tabs should come up in the keyboard tab un check the filter keys box
Now by sticky keys do you mean that when a key is pressed that it stays pressed even though your not hitting the key anymore? Or is it that certain keys such as Cntrl, alt, and delete stick. If its the latter you'll need to go into control panel and open up ease of access, from here go to make the keyboard easier to use. Once here there will be an option to have sticky keys, uncheck this box if it is checked. Also there is another option in this menu that says filter keys. If this box is checked uncheck it. Hope this helps.
