I have a Polaroid 10 inch tablet and when I plug headphones in I only get sound from one side of the headphones, I have tried multiple pairs, what do I do

If I uderstand correctly, you mean you have your headphone plugged but SOUND is coming out both from headphon AND speakers?
As I understand your plug socket is defective and you should replace it. This may sound easy but it's not so bacause it means disassemble your tablet.
It it's on warranty, take it for service. If not, you'll have to spend some mone repairing it

is it a tablet?....phone?....laptop??? you dont say. If it is a laptop..make sure you are plugging it into the 'headphone' jack...not the input or mike jack. they all look the same except for color. if itis a tablet...go into the settings and see that the headphone jack is set to 'headphones' and not 'speaker'
It is possible you have a defective headphone jack...there is a small switch build into the jack that disconnects the speakers and turns the headphone audio path to the headphones. sorry..now I see what the device is

This can be a hardware (bad headphone jack) or a software (rom update) issue. If the tablet is in warranty, try taking it to your dealer and see if they have a fix.

Otherwise, some people have had success doing one of the following:

1. Plug headphones in after starting music. Watch for headphone icon to appear on screen, meaning tablet has recognized that headphones are attached. Make sure plug has been put into socket all the way.

2. Install app SoundAbout on your tablet and see if you can route sound to headphones only.

3. Check Settings/About Device to see if there is a software update for your tablet. Install the update and see if that fixes the problem

Hi, I've had 2 of these before i got rid of them. I had to get my friend whose great with computers go in from his pc to open mine, so i could wipe the data before returning. If you call polaroid.com they can give you the steps to do this. Unfortunately it is fried, it may work awile after you get it open, but mine didn't. Hope this helps . I also found out this tablet is a starter tablet like something you buy for your kids 1st tablet. Good luck. JMF

that's the way it works if you plug in the headphones the external speakers go off. if you are not getting sound to the headphones then try another pair of headphones to see if they will work.

That is definitely a hardware issue. Polaroid, Emerson, Uniden, etc tablets are made in China under the same manufacturer. Just call there customer service and arrange for a replacement. You might or might not get the same model so be sure to clear that on phone itself. There customer service team is ok and you can ask for an upgrade if same model is not available

If the sound works on your Kindle Fire's speakers and will not cut off and reroute sound to headphones when you plug them in to the headphone jack port on the side of the Kindle. Try the following:

If you have a set of blu tooth headphones then enable blu tooth connection to a source of sound like, You Tube, Spotify iTunes etc. You will be able to hear sound on your blu tooth headphones this way. Turn of the blu tooth headphones, then try plugging in your regular wired headphones into the Kindle and reconnection should be achieved.
