Amana washer not draining properly

Washer will not drain:

The drain water pump is the main part in your washing machine that pumps out the water. If this is defective or has failed in any way, this will be the reason why your washer will not drain the water. Before you order a new drain pump, make sure to check the pump to be sure a small object like clothing or similar has not lodged itself inside of it causing the NO DRAIN issue and even a no spin issue?. If the drain pump is not clogged, you can test it with a multimeter and remove and replace if needed.

The washing machine drain hose is where the water flows through to get the water out. If this drain hose is blocked, kinked, bent, or clogged, the washer will NOT be able to remove the water from the tub. Check the drain hose to be sure it allows the water to flow freely. You can take the drain hose off and run water through it in your sink to be sure it is not blocked. If there is water STILL in the washer when you remove the drain hose, grab a bucket as the water will exit from where you disconnected it

The water pump belt (to drain out the water) may have broke or become frayed or loose. If this belt breaks then it is unable to drain and remove the water from your washer. Inspect the belt to see if this is causing the NO DRAIN issue and remove and replace if needed.

If the lid switch is not working as required it will cause your washer to not drain (and many other problems). This may be unlikely as a bad lid switch will usually cause your washer to also not agitate or spin. However on some models this can vary. The best thing to do if you have a suspected bad lid switch is to test it. It can fail electrically and or mechanically. If mechanical failure is the issue, you should be able to see if it is cracked, broken, or not in place to make contact with the lid. To test it electrically, use a multimeter set on Ohms and test it for continuity
My advice is free cuz God is good!

My front load washer will not spin on the final spin cycle. Washer spins in wash and rinse cycle spin. Cloths are still soaking wet.

I appreciate your post, Rachel Kovach!

From my understanding your Frigidaire frontload washer is not spinning the final spinning and the clothes are still wet. If you washer is overloaded it will not spin properly to release the water out of the clothes. Also, a small load will cause your washer to not spin properly. You should additionally check the drain hose to make sure it not kinked or twisted that could cause your improper draining. If all that checks properly it could be an issue with your drain pump, motor, and control panel. I would suggest consulting with a technician for proper diagnosis and repair. This will help avoid unnecessary part purchases. -Matt

WHERE IS THE DRAIN FILTER ON CROSSLEY FRONT LOADER

The washer is probably detecting water still in the washer,I would say you have something stuck in the drain system or a bad pump

Spin cycle is not getting clothes completely dry, can still hand ring water from clothing

When the clothes are wet at the end of a cycle, check these: Motor coupler To test the motor coupler, re-start the washer in its spin cycle. Let the machine run for a minute, and then open the lid and notice whether the tub is spinning: If it's spinning when you lift the lid, the coupler is fine. Spin cycle If the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag®), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component. Alternatively, there could be clothes caught between the inner and outer tubs. Read the "It spins but won't pump" section of the "It won't drain" section. Also, there could be other things that cause friction on the drive train. Seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician. Siphoning If the water that pumps from the machine goes right back into the machine after the spin cycle, it may be because your washer is siphoning the water from a laundry tub with a slow drain, back into the washer. Try to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is there something stuck in the drain?) Also, be sure the drain hose doesn't reach more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub. If it does, cut off the excess. Water-inlet valve Water-inlet valves eventually fail. One problem that may develop with a water-inlet valve is that it can no longer completely shut off when the electricity is turned off to it. Then, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub--you may notice that your washer has water in it when you haven't used it for a few days. To fix this, replace the valve.

Clothes are sill soaking wet after sin cycle

When the clothes are wet at the end of a cycle, check these:

Motor coupler
Spin cycle
Siphoning
Water-inlet valve
Motor coupler To test the motor coupler, re-start the washer in its spin cycle. Let the machine run for a minute, and then open the lid and notice whether the tub is spinning:

  • If it's spinning when you lift the lid, the coupler is fine.

  • If it isn't spinning--and your machine was produced by Whirlpool®--you may have a broken coupler. Many Whirlpool-made washers use a small, relatively inexpensive device called a motor coupling. This plastic-and-rubber component is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. When that happens, you need to replace it completely.

Spin cycle If the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag®), a worn clutch (GE®/Hotpoint®), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component.

Washer does not remove water in final spin

If washer hums when it should spin, and the washer will not drain, you may have 2 issues.
First check that the drain pump, drain hose, and wall drain are free of debris.
The washer may not spin properly if the drain system is not operable.
Once you are sure the washer drain pump, drain lines, wall drain, and drain hose is okay, run a test wash.
If the washer hums but now drains, you fixed one issue.
If the washer still hums, you may have a bad belt, motor coupler, motor itself, etc...
Check parts for wear and replace as necessary.I pulled the drain impeller and found a sock from my little guy stuck in there. Fixed!
check all water outlets to make sure there is nothing blocking the pipes.

Cloths are still very heavy and wet

Sounds like a pump problem or a kinked drain hose. The machine cannot spin or spin properly until the pumps gets the water out of the tub.

Sometimes the drain hose get plugged or kinked and won't allow the water to be pumped out so make sure that is not an issue. But, I'm more inclined to believe this is a pump problem.
