If it white screen you are screwed if you do not no the Apple ID
if you can access the screen you can google check Apple ID then type the serial number to heck if it iCloud lock you can find serial number or imei number back of the iPad or in sim try if it's 3G iPad then type in and see if the iCloud is locked or not if it's not you can restore Ipad by iTunes on your computer turning the iPad off by pressing holding the power button and in-certain the charge till iTunes logo pop up on your iPad and then on your computer then restore the iPad
Is the screen broken or is it just the digitiser? There are many excellent videos available which take you through the process of replacing all parts of your iPad.

Jo if your ipad has a white screen it is already on. The problem is either a software issue or your screen has failed. I would suggest taking it to your local apple repairer to take a look.
Hi, have you activated the Reverse colours function? Go to Settings / General / Accessibility / Invert Colours
did you drop it by any chance? My boy dropped his and we got the dreaded black screen one time - then we gave it the hard smack treatment on the backside to release the jammed accelerometer - this worked perfectly the 1st time it happened, the 2nd time he dropped it we reverted to strange black and white colours, the smacking continued, and the colours came back.
It is quite possible that you will need the LCD replaced as it might have become damaged in the fall.. To see, reset the iPad by pressing and holding the home button and the power button at the same time, when the screen flickers and turns off release the home button only. If the iPad turns on but still has white screen, you most likely will have to have it replaced...
