Your carb is probably clogged at the tiny screen side of the carb. Or your fuel filter inside the tank is bad and it's not letting fuel to the carb. It seems like a fuel deficiency problem.
There should be a hole in the gear box for a pin. Insert something in that hole to hold the shaft from turning and unscrew the head. I believe it is reverse thread
