My dryer turns off within few minutes of turning on. i get error code 55. what does that mean?

Code 12 means that the battery input to the PCM was disconnected within the last 50 key cycles (this is a normal condition).
Code 55 means that you have reached the end of the codes. This is also normal

So if you have a 12, 55 code readout, you basically have no error codes stored.

Thanks for using FixYa. Error code F/H means no water was detected entering machine or Pressure switch trip not detected. If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine and then valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed. It can also happen if the control has turned the water valves on and after 8 minutes the flow meter has detected 10.5 gallons of water passing through it, but has not detected the pressure switch trip, the valves will be turned off and the error code will flash. I had the same issue with two new dryers. The rep on the phone said nP can also indicate a power issue. It turned out one of the wires in the outlet had broken off. Rewiring the outlet solved the problem.

The error code means that the unit suffered from a power failure.just make sure that all the wiring is good there is nothing loose and the circuit breaker is in good shape you should be able to turn off the dryer unplug it for a few minutes and the plug it back in this should clear the fault code.

Error 12 means that within the last 50 key starts there was a condition where the battery was disconnected and thus the computer as well. It could mean your battery was low on one of those occasions. Perhaps the interior light was on while the car was off, etc. If you have recently had trouble with the battery and since fixed it that would be the problem. You can check the state of your battery with a digital multimeter if you have one. With the multimeter set to DC probe the two posts with vehicle off. There should be a reading around 12.6V give or take a few. Try this after the car has been off for some time like first thing in the morning. After you start the car the reading should go to around 14.5-14.8V. Have an assisstant turn on the heater/ac blower motor to high. The reading should drop initially and then climb back up. If it does not then your alternator is not charging the battery properly. Turn the vehicle off and watch the voltage drop back down to around 12.5 and hold there; if it continues to drop below that (you may have to come back after a while to check this) then one or more of the battery cells is faulty.
Code 55 means that the diagnostic test is complete and there are no more codes stored.
If the issue with code 12 is resolved or if you do not have a multimeter I would reset the computer and see if the code returns.
You may be able to reset the computer in that particular car by moving the vehicle a few feet forward then a few feet backward 3 or 4 or 5 times. If your check engine light is on you will see it go out if it resets. Failing that and without an OBD(On-Board Diagnostics) scan tool you can disconnect the battery for (negative cable only) for about ten minutes. This will reset the computer. Of course it will also reset your clock and radio presets.
