My printer is not reacting to print. What does it mean when it sas "printer is busy"?

If the light flashing is the "light bulb like button" or the "Ready/Light" button, it means that either the printer is:

• The printer is busy receiving and processing data or printing.
• The printer is printing a directory, font list, menu settings pages, or Print Quality Test Pages.


If it's Busy:
• Wait for the message to clear.
• Press and release Cancel to cancel the print job.
• Press and hold Cancel to reset the printer.


If it's printing a directory, a font list, menu settings pages, or Print Quality Test Pages:
• Wait for the pages to print. The Busy message is displayed as the pages print. The Ready light is on when the
printing stops.
• Press and release Cancel to cancel printing.
• Press and hold Cancel to reset the printer.

itsprobably backed up print jobs, try rebooting andit wil try to print

Might need a new printer. Lexmark printers can be troublesome.

If paper is feeding through and you don't get any errors try this: Try doing 4 to 5 head cleans, wait about 10 hours for the ink to soften and do another 3 or 4 cleans with a nozzle check after each. You should see a gradual improvement in the nozzle checks. If there is no improvement then you need a head cleaning solution such as this one:

Try pluging the usb cable to a diffrent USB port.
Is it showing any error message?
Have you installed the print cartridges correctly?
Which OS(xp or vista or mac) are you using?

Take out the cartridges
disconnect printer from computer
Turn off the printer

On the computer cancel documents in queue
if using a straight USB connection, delete all instances of printer. else remove duplicate printer icons.
reboot.

Reconnect printer (swap cables if not detected)
Insert the cartriges

Try printing again

i've downloaded the install disc twice, when attempting to print, i get the "busy at this time" and after troubleshooting on my own, i get a message that reads "no spooling".

So are you saying that the printer looks like it's about to print but then gives you a red error light? If so I think I had the same problem. It is to do with a faulty part (very cheap). The part is a kind of roller that picks up the paper. In some CLP-300s the rollers surface is too coarse, thus not picking up enough paper.

I had a service department change it for me, did it in 5 mins.

See if this works:

Turn computer off

1. Power off the printer.
   
   
2. Close all printer covers and doors.
   
   
3. Hold down the and (up arrow and down arrow) buttons on the printer and power the printer on.
   
   
4. Release your fingers from the buttons when the message Diagnosing... appears.
   
   
5. When Customer Mode and ESS Diag display, press the (down arrow) button until Test Print appears, and then press the select (center) button.
   
   
6. Press the (down arrow) button until ContaminationChk appears, and then press the select (center) button twice.
   
   
7. After the LCD displays Busy and the printer prints the ContaminationChk pages, power off the printer and power it back on.

check your mac connection settings, change if needed, try install new printer.
