The tv is a insignia 55". it has been turned into for repair but the company has discontinued the motherboard and there is no replacement parts to be found even at the parts store online. the tv continually changes channels after being turned on. im wondering if its possible to disconnect the motherboard and insert another board to turn it into a monitor that i could hook up my computer to? thank you.
Check and see if you have the following:
HDMI input on the back of your TV.
The ability to switch from standard input to HDMI.
If both are true, you can plug a HDMI cable into your TV, change the setting to HDMI (port # if you have more than 1) and you will bypass the Channel selector part of the mother board.
Give it a try and let us know.

You might need to lower the resolution on your computer, the TV has a maximum resolution that it can handle, if you have it set too high you won't get a picture.

The power supply is in the protect mode. There are many things in the set that can cuase this. Most likely there is a short on one of the circuit boards, or the power supply itself has failed.
You will have to have the set serviced in order to get it going again.

Heres the dealyo.
Click start button
Click control panel
Click display
Click settings
adjust screen resolution (probably have to go down) until the tv displays your computer
if this did not work, you will have to adjust bit rate from 32 to 16. Fiddle with the settings until the magic happens.
You will not get any sound unless you use an audio jack plugged into t.v.
Im here all week

Most of them are screwed on to the chassis with a lot of connectors, take good pictures before start working on it.
