well that happened to me but i went on this website where you can reboot the whole tablet to take off the password and it still keeps all the data you stored on the tablet.

this is a reset. Only after this screen is shown, press and hold the power and volume up buttons together for 3 seconds. Now, use the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select items. Navigate to and select "wipe data/factory reset".
