Essentially what you did was just dubbing them or waxing them. Shoe polish is wax based product and one could think of it as a colored mirror on shoes, I've applied burgundy, black, tan and dark brown polishes on my brown shoes, yet they don't look burgundy or black but it's a nice variance of all.
But the main point is that the I fear that the polish will wear off in time and reveals the unpolished suede. Why didn't you just recolor them? I'm very sure there are some products meant for recoloring suede.
And before the waxing you had already a pair of winter beaters, suede is more strong than you think. Yes you can walk in the rain with suede without it exploding. All you have to do is to protect them with nano sprays and call it a day. And I always like to post this when talking about suede.

You can get a shoe dye to take care of this yourself at a shoe repair shop. Fiebings and Meltonian make good dyes and others make some too.

How do I remove light brown hair permanent colour from a white leather lounge. Did it yesterday?

Try Squeezing toothpaste onto the stain, then scrub lightly with a soft bristled brush, then wipe off. Dab acetone-free nail polish remover onto ink dye stain with a cotton ball or wipe, and rub to remove the stain. Spray aerosol hairspray onto the stain and rub off with a damp cloth, rubbing until the stain starts to fade.

How to restore black color on my black cherry cowboy boots

Hello, John -

I would use black shoe polish with a clean, soft dry cloth to apply the shoe polish to the black areas of the boots.

If you do not own any black shoe polish you can find it at your nearby grocery store, **** store, or department store such as Target, etc.. Just ask what aisle you can find it in at the service counter of the store. Shoe repair businesses also sell shoe polish.

You will need a second, clean soft dry cloth or a shoe buffing brush to buff the areas with the shoe polish application to a shine.

This web site gives good instruction on what to do:

You can find the Justin products mentioned in the video at a western goods store.

Best wishes.

Repair small cut in leather car seat

Much depends on the type of leather and how the seat is trimmed with it, where the cut is located and how long it is and the sort of appearance the finished repair will be required to have.

For an invisible repair it will be necessary to employ the services of a good auto-trimmer/upholsterer who will remove the cover and perhaps fit a new panel or perhaps sew from the back and apply reinforcing.

At the other end of the scale, if the leather is exceptionally soft using a very small mattress needle and a good deal of patience a workmanlike repair can be made without disturbing the cover, that while not exactly invisible will prevent the cut becoming worse. A careful application of shoe polish or dye or even using a felt pen can colour the exposed edges of the cut.

How does one dye these shoes

Are these a cloth shoe? If so, you can get a shoe dye mixed to give your colour. Are they a leather shoe, they have spray tins of shoe dye in a number of different colours. In either case, follow the preparation instructions and dye them
