With so little information, I'd suggest removing the battery, unplugging, holding the power button down for 15 seconds, then plug it back in (without battery) and pressing the power button for 15 seconds, then try pressing the power button normally.
Some info that would help narrow this down:
What make and model is the laptop?
Is it plugged in?
Do any lights come on when you press the power button?
Can you hear or see anything when you press the power button? Do you hear the fan whirring or hard drive clicking? Does the screen flash at all?
Are there any messages that appear on the screen?
Can you think of anything that happened that might have caused this?
What was the last thing you did on that computer?
Did you shut it down, or just close the lid?
Try holding power button down for 10-15 seconds
