An alternative to buying a new battery would be to have your old batteries rebuild. You can bring them to your nearest Interstate all Battery Center and they can fix it for you.
I own a Craftsman cordless drill the battery was running somewhat low so I decided to charge it for a little bit I put it back together to use it pushed the trigger and it did not work the light above the trigger started to blink on and off drill did not work please help me what's going on
See if you can put a volt meter on the metal contacks of the charger to see what voltage it is producing. If you have a friend who has the same drill have him try to charge your batteries and then measure the battery voltage.
If light is on charger the charge is fine. You could verify using voltmeter it should put out = to what it says on the back of charger 12-18 volts or so.
Most likely battery is shot after 8 years they just dont' hold a charge anymore and they often will only charge for a few minutes when the chip in the computer tells the charger to shut off due to defective battery.
compare prices of new drills and new batterys sometimes new drill is not much more. Try ebay and harbor freight for ultra low priced batteries.
I am not familiar with this model, but most chargers have a flashing light as the battery charges, and a solid light when it is charged.
Do you have the manual? It should tell you what the lights mean.
I have the same problem. The guys at Batterries Plus told me that 7.2 volt battereis are not easily replaced and definately not through them. If you left it charging for to long (ie over a week when you were gone like me) then the battery is never gonna charge again. You might as well find the same model of dril at skil's reconditioned site for around $40 or buy a brand new one for $60 or $70
