From the home screen, if you look at the bottom of the screen.. the square which is second from the right should bring up all apps currently and previously used. You should be able to tap the X on the top right of each app box to close them individually. Alternatively, opening a browser window then to the right of the address bar is the amount of open tabs you have.... tapping on the number should bring up the open tabs... give them all a little time to completely load up, then you should be able to close them the same as above.
Hope this helps you solve your problem :)
Too many Chrome browser windows open (You didn't say that, but I'm guessing that's the problem. Press the overlapping-windows symbol at the top right. You will then get thumbnails of all the open browser windows. For each one you want to close, put your finger on it and drag it rapidly off the right edge. (Think of tossing it away.)
Many "shutdown issues" are caused by over taxing your memory with open apps.
Double click the home key to view the open programs at the bottom. Tap the "-" signs to close most if not all apps. Swipe down or click the home key to return to the main screen; then try again.
I do not believe it is all that easy to take the back cover off. Depending on which model of the tablet you have you need special tools. A plastic picnic knife might be helpful but then there are a couple of screws to open as well.
The different models have slightly different process. See these sites.
pictures should already be loaded to SD card... if not, you probably need to format SD card and then try again. I've had issues with SD cards going from laptop to Tab 3 but my pics taken with my camera always load to SD card. Now pictures I have downloaded from the internet I can open up in my Gallery, tap the picture and then hit settings and move to SD card
