My VTech CS6429-2 home phone no longer rings. How do I restore sound?
We have checked the volume and it is all the way up, when we choose a ring tone it plays out loud on the device, etc. However, when we receive a call the base and handset are silent. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Check to make sure your phone is not on mute . Set your ringer to answer after 4 rings . Check the volume and make sure you assign your phone a loud ring tone . Good luck !
You didn't state the brand and model of your phone, but my vTech and Uniden phones only have ONE RING TONE on the base, and it can only be turned ON or OFF (and the volume is variable on the vTech).
Here some solutions for your problem + a link to the user manual.
**Selecting the Ring Tone and Volume Your phone has five different ringer tone/volume combinations you can choose from. To select the ringer: 1) With the phone in standby, press [vol/ / ] or [vol/ / ]. 2) The phone will sound the different ring tones at different volumes. To turn the ringer off, select RINGER OFF. 3) When the phone sounds the ring tone and volume you wish to use, press [end].
**Temporarily Mute Ringer If the handset is off the base while an incoming call is ringing, simply press [end] to mute the incoming ring. The ringer will sound with the next incoming call. Note: You can only mute the handset ringer if the handset is off the base when the phone starts ringing. Adjusting the Earpiece.

Many times there is a volume switch on the actual handset itself. Most commonly on the left side of vtech devices. there are three different volume levels. By pressing up on the button you should be able to turn the volume up until it has an audible tone confirming volume change. Handset should ring with incoming call when audible tone is heard by pressing up on volume button.
