I have owned this wine fridge since 2007 and up until recently I have had zero issues. Even now the wine fridge operates correctly, the only issue is one of the fans was getting rather loud. Pretty sure it was a bearing going bad, as others have noted they appear to be very similar if not the same as computer fans. I am happy to report that this evening I successfully replaced the loud fan. From what I could see It appears the fridge has 3 different fans. One in the upper back of the unit and 2 in the temperature control unit that resides between the red and white wine sections. The fan that was the issue for me was the larger fan in the rear portion of the temperature control unit. I figured out which fan it was by waiting until I heard the loud fan and then taking a plastic straw and sticking it into the fans to stop them and find the noisy one. Once I found the bad fan I was able to locate a parts list from the model # and locate the fan I needed. Getting to the fan was not as difficult as I expected it to be. This whole process took me a little less than an hour including the time to empty the fridge and refill it. The materials I needed were the replacement fan, phillips screw driver, wire cutters / strippers, soldering iron & solder, heat gun & heat shrink tubing, and duct tape.
1. Unplug & Empty the wine fridge
2. Remove all the shelves - they are held in place with plastic tabs on either side held in place with a screw. I loosened mine enough that I could spin them 180 out of the way. I actually ended up just tightening them this way so that I can now pull all of the shelves completely out whenever I want to.
3. Remove the 6 screws from underside of temperature control unit. 2 along each side & 2 across the back.
4. Open the wine fridge door fully out of the way. You should now be able to slide the temperature control unit forward an inch or so.
5. Remove the 2 screws from the top front of the temperature control unit. You should now be able to slide the metal cover towards you and remove it from the temperature control unit.
6. Good luck on this next part. You need to remove the very thin styrofoam cover from where the fan resides. This is what I had to use the duct tape for later to piece it back together. It is extremely thin and brittle.
7. Remove the one screw from the top of the fan that is holding the temperature sensor in place. Remove the 4 screws from the underside of the fan that are holding both the fan and fan guard in place. Other than the wire going under the styrofoam enclosure the fan should now be free.
8. Unplug the fan wiring harness from the circuit board, cut the wires close to the broken fan since you will need to reuse the wiring harness.
9. Feed the wires from the new fan under the styrofoam enclosure in the same manor as the old wires.
10. Solder and heat shrink the wires of the new fan to the old wiring harness and plug harness back into circuit board.
11. Reattach the fan with fan guard & 4 screws. Screw the temperature sensor back in place on top of fan.
12. Replace styrofoam cover on enclosure, like I said earlier I used duct tape to piece it back together the best I could.
13. Slide metal cover back onto the top of the temperature control unit and fasten back in place with the 2 screws.
14. Slide temperature control unit back into fridge and fasten in place with 6 screws underneath unit.
15. Replace shelves in fridge, you can replace the retaining clips as well if you feel the need and then plug the unit back in.
With any luck yours will run nice and quiet again like mine now does.

This WC model doesn't have a "compressor fan".

Noise from the refrigerator...fan or compressor? It cools and freezes perfectly fine.

Most likely the condenser fan. If the compressor was making a lot of noise, it probably wouldn't cool sufficiently. When the compressor is running, open the door and listen for noise from the inside fan too. A light machine oil will fix a noisy fan.

Fan make noise

There are 2 things in that area that can make a noise, the ice maker, and an evaporator fan, depending on the model. The fan is an easy fix if the blade is just hitting something ,but you have to be abit mechanically inclined to get to it.The icemaker has a little motor that sometimes gets stuck in the ice harvest mode, then you just have to unstick it ,also depending on what kind of fridge you have..everything else is down at the bottom, compressor, condenser, ect. In any case you probably want to call a tech unless its old, because repairs would be more than it is worth.

1. Open the freezer to see if the noise gets louder. If the noise becomes louder with the freezer open, the noise is likely caused by the evaporator fan. If the evaporator fan is the culprit, replace it to get rid of the noise.
2. Take raer panel off inside freezer and check there is no ice build up which is hitting the fan
3. Pull the refrigerator away from the wall, and check the condenser fan at the back of the fridge. A metal panel may cover the fan, which can be unscrewed. Listen to see if the fan is the source of the noise. If it is, the fan may need to be cleaned or replaced.
4. Unplug the refrigerator, and listen to the back side of the fridge. The fans will immediately stop running. If the back of the fridge continues to make a noise after the fans have shut off, the sound is most likely coming from the compressor, which is located at the back of the fridge, near the bottom. If you have a compressor problem, you either have to replace the compressor or the entire refrigerator.

Ge side by side tfg20jaww compressor stopped running

Try a hard start kit sized for your fridge compressor. Local supplier should have one in the $20.00 range fairly easy to install directions on packaging just need to pull the lower back panel. if it works save up for a new fridge as this fix will last a year or two at best.

At idle it is quite but when the compressor kicks on it makes a loud grinding noise.

The condenser fan in the back near the compressor comes on when the compressor comes on. The fan motor is the likely problem. It is easy to replace and inexpensive. Here is a link that should help Condenser fan replacement Spin the fan blade by hand or listen closely when it is making the noise to isolate it.

Now if the fan is not the problem and the noise is coming from the compressor, the compressor will likely need to be replaced. This is hardly ever worth the cost of the repair. You would be better off buying a new unit.

When i switch on my air con it makes a pop noise and turns the power off in the house,

You could have one of 4 problems:

Compressor shorted to Ground.
Condensor fan motor shorted to Ground.
Start or Run capacitor Open.
Burned off wire to compressor shorted to ground.

All major problems if you are not an HVAC Tech you will need to call for Help!
Sorry I don't have an easy fix...

I have a galaxy fridge, side by side. it woke me up this morning making the LOUDEST noise! it sounded like it was coming from the motor underneath? i don't know a thing about refrigerators.... i just know...

Good day,
Motors make noise. There a 2 in the bottom back of the machine.
One is the compressor itself and the second is the cooling fan motor located in the same area. Someone will have to remove the rear bottom cover. If it's the fan motor, then the repair cost is nominal. On the other hand, if it's coming from the compressor itself, you have a major problem.

Fan started making noise

I have one of these, and every so often, the fan would start making a loud clicking noise. I discovered that if I shut the fridge off for a while and left the door open to defrost it, it'd work fine again for a while before the noise came back. Apparently, some ice was building up between the metal heat-sink and the fan, causing the fan blades to scrape against the ice/frost build-up and make the "tick, tick tick" noise.
There is no compressor in the Avanti EC15W-2 mini fridge. It uses a simple Peltier junction device to transfer heat from the inside of the fridge to the outside/rear of the unit. So it should never get very loud at all, unless one of the two fans in it is acting up in some way.

Making virbrating nose

believe it or not, most noises that start and end and start again are sometimes very easy to fix. next time you hear it open the refrigerator doorand see if your ears can pick up the sound. usually it is two bottles in the panel of the door vibrating against each other. if not thencheck your fans especially the condenser fan next to th compressor, something may be caught in the fan blade. unplug unit if you find noise and give the coils a good cleaning while you are down there anyway. let us knowhow you did

Loud noise

The compressor fan is making the noise and causing overheating as well. Easy fix. Call Danby with model # and they can figure out correct fan. Part will cost around $10 and is easy to replace. Plug and play with screws. Good luck

Noisey compressor

Does it make the noise all of the time or just periodically? Does the outdoor fan run when it is making the noise. If the fan isn't running and the compressor is noisy at that time likely it is in defrost mode which is normal.
