Perhaps you just need a new battery. or the camera is defect.
Measure the voltage on the battery with a multi meter. It should give a little more that what is printed on the battery. so when it says 3,7 V on the battery you should measure 3,8 or 3,9. If not, even 3,7 outside the camera is not enough, then you need another battery.

Kodak Easyshare Z5010 takes black pictures only when in manual mode. I reset the settings but it still takes black pictures.

Check the settings that influence the exposure when your camera is in manual mode. There are three variables that you can adjust to change the exposure: ISO sensitivity, aperture (diaphragm) and shuttertime. When for instance the ISO is set to 100, aperture to F16 and shutterspeed to 1/1000 you will need a huge amount of light to get anything else than black pictures.
In a normal daylight situation you should get some results when using approximately the following settings: ISO100, F5.6 and 1/60 shutterspeed. Adjust these settings depending the light conditions and the results you get.

My C180 easy share won't turn on.

Kodak's advice is disinformation & damage control: this is actually a product defect--it's a firmware bug that affects most Kodak Easyshare cameras, but Kodak will probably never admit it. The problem usually starts after you change the batteries or connect the camera to the computer. Google for "Kodak easyshare wont turn on" - there are more than 8,000,000 results. Just returned my new camera to the store because it locks up every time I change the card or transfer pictures via the USB port. Thought I was getting a good deal, but now I know why this was the cheapest camera they sold. What a waste of my time & money. So it's usually NOT the batteries fault--the real problem here is Kodak's low quality engineering.

Doesnt start, but it flashed black vertical lines.

Make sure that you are installing a fresh/ full charge battery
Remove the battery
Clean the metal contacts on the battery using a clean cloth

Pls test with an alt. batt.
If you do not have access to a dif. battery.
Pls. take the batt out of the camera. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the batt. If not you will need to order a No power repair.
