SOURCE: i need to make copies of my little brothers

The images need to be re-sized. It's important when re-sizing to keep aspect proportions since a 5x7 print is a vertical or portrait print and a 4x6 is a horizontal or landscape print. Therefore, when re-sizing if you check off keep aspect ratio, you may get either 4" tall or 6" wide but not both or you'll stretch the picture distorting it. Picasa by Google is a good and easy to use photo editing program that should suit your needs and is a free download. Picasa Best of luck with your project and please post back with any other questions.

Error message with canon mx410 "cannot scan from adf"

I fixed this by changing the Copy Intensity from Auto to Manual
I had the same paper jam (caused by pressing Stop during a page going into the ADF), but I had pressed OK as instructed and the page was auto fed back out again. Then I couldnt copy from ADF after that.
I tried everything, and then started to retrace my steps of all the things I might have tinkered with to try and get the copying working in the first place, before the paper jam.
Then I remembered I had set the Copy Intensity from Manual to Auto (thinking Auto is always best). With hindsight, it now makes sense for it to be manual with the ADF as otherwise how would it load a page, use it to set auto density, and then reload it again for the actual copy to occur. This happens okay on the flatbed scanner as it can scan a little, work out the settings, and then scan for real.
Copy Intensity is reached on my Canon MX from the Menu button at the bottom left of the front panel. - Then press the right arrow twice to get to Color Intensity. - Hit OK. - Then right arrow from "Auto" to "Manual Adjust"- Then pick a setting or leave it as half-way between light and dark- Press OK
Now every time my ADF copying works a treat. Thats what I get for tinkering in things I didn't need to change in the first place. I was just trying to get a quick copy going from ADF to paper without saving a file up on the computer and then printing.

Printer is only half printing doc on each line, have done test page, very faint, aligned ink, clean cartridges, all with top v faint and bottom dark ink, new cartridge last fri and was working well,...

Open the rear of the printer and make sure theres no paper jam or broken parts.

Try printing a document with the rear of the printer open and watch to see if anything out of the ordinary happens.

Prints only top half of photos on top half of

I suggest that you go into the printer properties section on control panel. There Will be a section which allows you to tell the printer the type of paper, size desired, orientation of photo to horizon and etc. There is also likely a selectable setup procedure on the printer's own display to do the same... It sounds like a basic setup format issue....

What are the best settings to use for printing photos? I have tried using the glossy paper but it comes out very dark. I have cleaned the print head, and I ran the test thing and it was fine. My other...

The paper issue is personal but as general glossy paper will damage the head aas it leaves wax on it and you may try jus any paper that you like starting from light weight to 25% as far as the print location it is the setup on the computer not the printer, try to use cheep paper and try few setting tell you getr the correct setting for the printer also make sure that when you put the papers the sides are close to the paper and sopporting them good so they do not move

Scans slides too dark.

maybe the slides are too dark, in other words, the pictures you took didn't have enough exposure therefore you it shows up dark.. You could always use photoshop or someother photo manipulation software to lighten the scan, same thing happens with my hp scanner with slide adapter, if it slides just show up dark, lightening it with software will help, unless it is unsaturated/shadows too dark, etc..

Hope this helps.

PIXMA Ip4000

I assume you're using photo paper.

Go to File/Print. Click Properties. Click Media Type and chose the photo paper you are using, whether it's Photo Paper Pro or whatever. If you're printing using Plain paper and you have photo paper in the printer, you'll get the stripes.

Hope that helps

Prints pictures too dark

II have had the same problem and it relates(at least to me) the type of paper yuo are using and the settings you place on the paper. With high glossy photo paper I was using the setting for that and then I switched to photo and text and set it for plain photo paper.

If that does not work then save the image to a photo soiftware such as windows fax and viewer and print it through that. You can lighten it especially for high gloss photo paper. Good luck This worked for me, The gloss photo settings made all m,y photos way too saturated on glossy photo paper.and much too dark.
