If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.
To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability.
Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.
Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the site http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/ Check this site too. http://remotesearch.blogspot.com/ Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops.
Type in the "brand name only" of your device, in the search box [at the top right] of the display window and the Search will start at once as you type in, and will show you all the related posts. It will make surf easy.

GT3-R -can

This is a dual frequency transmitter. (315/390) You need to select one button to program the TYPE 1 frequency of 390 MHz. Here's how:

Backwards compatable programming instructions for GT3-R dual-band remote: This is a 3 button remote, which can be used to operate up to 3 garage doors using IntelliCode radio controls. This remote is defaulted to operate the new IntelliCode 2 Genie garage door openers, but you can also program individual buttons to operate other IntelliCode 1 (pre 2011) models of Genie garage door openers made from 1998 to present. To change a button to operate a pre 2011 IntelliCode opener, the default IntelliCode 2 setting must be changed to IntelliCode 1. An LED light on the remote displays which mode the remote button is in: Red = IntelliCode 1 / Green = IntelliCode 2 To set one of the 3 buttons to be IntelliCode 1 (red), follow the instructions below:
  1. Select a button on the remote that has not been programmed.
  2. Press and hold that button for 10 seconds. Both Red and Green LEDs come on and stay on.
  3. Press the same button twice to toggle IntelliCode selection from IntelliCode 2 to IntelliCode 1.
  4. Press the same button again to confirm toggle. the LED should be Red. The IntelliCode selection for this button is set to IntelliCode 1.
You are now ready to program the remote to your garage door. Follow accompanying instructions for "Programming to IntelliCode 1 Genie garage door opener," or see below instructions: Programming Instructions: Gently press the Receiver Learn Code button on the power head receiver of your Genie garage door opener (motor head on ceiling in garage). This small, black, unmarked button is located behind the light lens at the motor head and is nearest the floppy 6 inch antenna wire that protrudes from the motor head. When pressed, a radio signal indicator light will start blinking red for 30 seconds. After pressing the Learn Code Button, press your transmitter button twice for your system to grab the frequency and code it in. (Keep the transmitter you're tuning at least 2 feet away from the power head while tuning.) Press the transmitter button once more to test the system and start your door moving.

Will not program

FIRST VERIFY THAT THE REMOTE IS COMPATABLE WITH YOUR DOOR OPENER (THEY CHANGED THE FREQUENCY A FEW YEARS BACK.

CHECK GENIE.COM

IF YOU HAVE THE CORRECT UNIT THE WEBSITE WILL GIVE YOU INSTRUCTIONS ON THE CORRECT METHOD TO PROGRAM.

NOTE IF YOU PUSH THE BUTTON ON THE REMOTE THE LITTLE LED ON THE POWERHEAD SHOULD FLICKER. IF NOT, YOU MAY HAVE A DEAD BATTERY OR THE WRONG REMOTE.

Genie Garage door will not close. Receiver Model: ACSR3 FCC ID: BBQ ACSR3

If you hit the button on the remote and nothing happens then you may need to code in the remote. On the motor head press the learn button and then press the button on the remote 3 times.

If it looks like the remote will work the opener or it opens the unit but not close it you are experiencing safety sensor problems. Make sure they are aligned. There will be a light on each and each should be on. Check the wiring to them too. They are not polarized. Thanks BB

What battery is needed fir a Genie Intellicode model GICTD? My old one does not work and this is one is spare from my daughter, but it does not have a battery in it. gk

The battery can be changed. There is a divet on the side of the unit. Insert a flat screw driver and pop it apart. There is a number on the battery. I believe it is 2032. The number on the battery cannot be switched although other ones look like it. Thanks BB

How do you replace the battery in the genie garage door remote, its the small one

Never could get mine to work...turns out this model only works with Genie garage door openers manufactured in certain years, and mine wasn't one of those years. Bought a GIT model from a Genie garage door installer, and no more problems!

I need to replace the battery on a Genie GICT-390 garage door opener. How do I open the case?

If its a lighter grey colored intellicode remote: There should be a small slot on the side of the remote. Use a coin such as a dime or a penny, stick it in the slot and twist. The remote should split in half and you'll see the coin-shaped battery. After you replace the battery, you can snap the 2 pieces of the remote back together.

If its a dark grey/black intellicode remote: The back cover should partially flip open to reveal the battery. This remote takes a 12volt N-size battery.

If its a keypad remote you are referring to: The bottom half of the keypad's face should slide straight down to reveal the battery (you should see and arrow and some thumb grips). All Genie keypads take 9volt batteries. Source(s): I am a genie technician
