SOURCE: can't take image with my optio mx4

I had this on mine, and after searching on the internet concluded it was a problem with the lens assembly. Taking the view that I could not lose, I disassembled the camera, which is probably not advisable. The problem I think was fixed, by gently tapping the front of the camera on the silver lens surround with the handle of the knife I used to undo the screws. I did this on repeated switch on, and after a fair number of times, the lens moved and the camera came back to life.... Re assembly was a bit tedious, but I was left with no screws or extra parts!!. One working camera and one happy son who has been using it for skate board video ing.

SOURCE: No image, No picture

From the Canon Website: Issue: The LCD/Electronic Viewfinder will not display an image. Solution: Special information regarding a blank or distorted screen on certain digital camera models Details: [ Hide ] Important Notice About Your Canon Product: It has recently come to our attention that the vendor-supplied CCD image sensors used in this Canon digital camera may cause the following malfunction: When the product is used in recording or playback mode, the LCD screen and/or electronic viewfinder may exhibit either a distorted image or no image at all. While reports of this malfunction have been rare in the United States, we have determined that it may occur if the product is exposed to hot and humid environments. Effective immediately, and regardless of warranty status, Canon will repair, free of charge, products exhibiting the above-mentioned malfunction if the malfunction is caused by the CCD image sensor. Canon will also cover the cost of shipping and handling in connection with this repair. No image is captured by the screen itself (LCD screen works but completely dark).

Did you try pressing the display button several times? in both viewing mode and record mode? Cycle through all display modes, s you get used to the button, so it does not trow you off when it happens again.

Screen black r1

Can you come into the menus? Just to check you did not change anything? Sometimes the monitor or display stays black in record mode, because the camera was put in power save mode. In the manual you can find hoe to switch it on again. Has to do, with what you want to see during record mode. Just the image, image with info, sometimes with a grid and then display off.

My digital video camcorder mv700 displays a black screen on record mode.now when operating in play mode it displays no card.please inform me of nearest service canon centre.

Have you accidentally switched on the view-finder? In this case the LCD screen will automatically switch off (usually to save battery power)

Also have you accidentally switched your camera to still-shot camera mode, or something else, so the camera asks for the memory card in playback?
