hi,the reason why it most probaly comes with that error is that the driver is not meant for windows 7,so go on line check hp site, printer drivers and download.

If you are using a 32
bit version of Windows 7 you can add a driver using the following: go
to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a printer, Local printer,
LPT1: (or which ever parallel port the printer is connected to),
select the Deskjet 720c driver. You may need to click on the Windows
Update button if the driver does not show up initially in the list.
If you are using a 64 bit version of Windows 7 there is not a solution at this point, the supplied drivers have an issue.

I have Windows-7 (64bit) in my Toshiba laptop. After trying to load a Brand New HP Deskjet Printer-2542 with its CD (and I also tried with the HP Wizard directly from the HP site) it loads it but stops at step-2 and gives me this error-1627 message>>>Error 1627 for package C:\program files\hp\hp deskjet 2540 series\driver store\yeti\hpvy11.inf.............I tried several ways and read/google others who had this problem but I didn't succeed in fully loading its program. What's next to do? (Pls note that my OLD VISTA Acer laptop did succeed in loading 1-2-3 and it works/scans/prints with that old laptop) But with Windows-7 it won't give me Step-3 to which it would give me the commands to print/scan/etc....it stop at 2 and gives me that error message 1627 all the time ...thanks, hope you give me step by step instructions on-what-to-do. I am sure it is a Windows-7 issue.
