I think I found these adjustments! There are two tiny surface-mount potentiometers (could be capacitors also) sitting in the small circuit on laser assembly.
this is exactly response I would like to hear - an
expert opinion!
What I did with help of 1mm-wide screwdriver: 1) There were two surface-mount potentiometers marked with C1 and D. I tried first D. Turned it clock- and counterclockwise by about 45 degrees.
2) After each turn I opened and closed tray to force the player read DVD disc.
3) It did not help, "NO DISC", then I tried the same with C1, and again, no luck.
4) Finally, I came back to D and turned it by about 180 degrees in one direction.
IT WORKED!!! Moreover, seem that now player reads content of the DVD discs faster then before. Probably manufacturer did not really adjust it properly and upon the time something has degraded, so it failed eventually.
having the exact same problem with inserting dvd!!!
SAME PROBLEM
I've had two of this model. The first exhibited the problem after the first two weeks during which time I was viewing DVD's continuously, which I returned to CC. The second unit started having the same problem after the warranty expired (90 days). I did not use the TV/DVD much durng the first 90 days, so this latent defect occurred probably within the same usage time.
Problem: Insert DVD/CD, some access noise, then DVD/CD ejects. Interesting problem in that first the DVD would not play, but I was still able to listen to CDs. After about 5 hours of play the CD's were no longer recognized and would eject.
Considering that this was purchased for a bedroom, to replace a three pieces of equipment (TV, DVD Player, and Stereo CD player) with one, and to use this I still need an external DVD and CD Stereo, in addition to the LCD TV. Good thing there are enough component inputs. I can't say much for Magnavox quality, and there customer service is even worse.
I have the same TV (I bought mine in 6/06) and have never had any problems until recently.
The DVD player stopped working. First I noticed that it was making some strange noises, but it was still playing the DVD's...then a few weeks later I was watching a DVD, stopped it, then returned later to resume the movie and for some reason when I hit play it took me back to the DVD menu, I thought that was a little strange but didn't think too much of it...then when tried to scroll thru the chapters to get back to where I was, it only let me scroll thru like 3 chapters and then froze up.
The DVD player lets me insert a DVD, but when it's inserted it doesn't go to the menu for the movie...it's a totally blank screen then it reverts to the blue screen where it says DVD-Magnavox. I hit play from this screen and it started playing the movie but you cannot skip to different chapters...it just freezes up and then you can't watch anything.
I called Magnavox and they offered me a refurbished exhange for like $650.00! I paid $770.00 originally...why would I pay them so much money for a refurbished TV that's probably going to end up giving me the same problem eventually?! Customer service was no help to me at all...I asked if there was a way to clean the DVD player with a disc or another method and was told that they don't recommend that, so calling them for help was basically a waste of time.
I called a few repair shops in my area and can't find anyone who is willing to work on a slot loaded DVD player, so I'm at a loss.
If anyone can provide information on a resolution I would greatly appreciate it!

Same exact problem with dvd player. Mine went bad after about 5 months...
always worked fine until recently i watched a movie and when i put in another the blue magnavox screen came up and it said loading like normal but it just kept loading. i can hear it trying to do something but after a while it just ejects the disc. we bought a cleaner disc thinking that might help but it did nothing it gets ejected also . although it did play it through once you could see the track numbers being played through on the screen but we didnt hear the audio we were supposed to. I keep trying every once in awhile to play a disc .thinking maybe it fixed its self. but no luck. ITs so frustrating getting ready to start calling local repair shops .please let me know if there is a solution to this .because the help line is no help!
