A lot depends on what type of video tape you use and where do you want to play the DVDs (CDs are for audio recording only). If tape is compact VHS then you can buy a simple DVD Recorder VHS VCR combo player and transfer across easily provided you have the compact VHS cassette module.

For other type of video camera tapes you will have to try other methods like connect camera with tape to a DVD recorder and directly burn the DVDs. You can buy attachments and software for PC but I have found these very cumbersome to work with.

Do not have an installation CD. How can I transfer the captured video to my computer. Can I get the required driver for my panasonic NV-VZ18

Im assuming this is a tape camcorder. If so, you need to identify what type of tape it records onto.

I believe mini DV is the easiest to digitize. For that you need a IEEE 1394 input on your computer, and video capture software on you computer.

I cant say much about older tapes, except that most any tape there is some sort of external USB converter for a PC for about $30 (very roughly)

hope this helps!
