It seems that there is no certain way for you to connect a DVD player to cable box. But you can connect the DVD player with HDMI or USB cable. But only HDMI cable can carry audio as well as picture. If you don't know how to connect a DVD player to a TV, you can check the following guide for help.

How do I connect a Sony DVD DVP-SR210P to a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4240 HDC and a Sylvania TV C320SLX?

I am not sure you can connect your DVD player to your cable box. You should be able to connect both your cable box and DVD player to your TV set with two HDMI cables. This link is a pdf_usecares file of the TV manual that shows how to hook up your dad and cable box.

I have Time Warner cable. I have a Symphonic SR90VE vcr/dvd that I have hooked up to the main TV. The cable box services a second tv in another room. I can't seem to get the main tv and the vcr/dvd player...

Cable goes to vcr cable INPUT, then run cables from vcr OUPUT to tv INPUT or AV.

Then put tv on input or av channel or channel 4 and use put the vcr on the channel you want to record.

How to install with time warner cable box

If your tv has auxilary RCA audio and video inputs on it (red, white, yellow), you can go directly from the dvd player into the TV. Choose the corresponding input (video 1, aux 1,2 or similar) on the TV to watch dvd, possibly controlled by the TV remote. Therefore it doesn't run inline with the cable box via a 75ohm cable.

Programming dvd player

It sounds like you may not be on the correct input selection on the tv to watch the dvd player. Ther are probably three or four inputs to choose from on your tv. whichever input you hooked the dvd player into on the tv is the same imput you have select using the tv's remote control in order to watch movies on the dvd player.

try connecting the box to a different input
also try connecting another device (like a VCR) in place of the box to see if the problem exists without the cable box
