Some models of top-load washers use tub dampening straps to cushion the movement of the tub during the spin cycle. There are four straps attached to the top of the tub and to each corner of the cabinet

Also There are four suspension rods that suspend the tub and allow the tub to free float. If the suspension rods are noisy, there will be a squeaking noise during wash. You can fix this by putting bearing (lithium base) grease in the cup that each rod rests in. If it continues to squeal replace all four rods the cups come with the rods, replace them as well.

If your washer has a loud banging noise during spin the balance weight may be loose. This weight is to counter act the weight of the motor so you will find the weight directly behind the motor. Sometimes simply tightening the bolts will fix your issue but if the bolts are stripped out get some bolts slightly longer than the original bolt to allow you to put a locking nut on the bottom side of the mounting plate. If the weight is broken replace it.

Lastly Washer vibration can be caused by a broken counter balance spring. Ur washer may be equipped with one or more counter balance springs which help to absorb the natural movement of the spinning tub. If a counter balance spring fails the tub might lean in one direction more than another and it will shake and cause vibration.

hi there,

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping/or sound
during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and
redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

SOURCE: Very noisy and loud vibrations on spin cycle of

Is it just during the spin cycle that it machine is noisy or the noise is less during the wash cycle? Also is the noise a thumping type of noise or is it more of a whining or steady noise? If is a whining noise, it probally means that water has seeped past the seal and corroded the bearing of the washer. The noise is the failing bearing.

Wash machine won't spin all the time and makes a loud banging noise.

Check to make sure that your clothes are not piled to one side causing the load to be off-balance. If that does'nt fix it then, It may be that your machine has a balance stabilizer on it that has worked its way loose or even off.

Badly out of balance in spin cycle. When the machine goes to the spin cycle it vibrates and begins to walk. The machine will not balance the load small or large.

The legs underneath the machine become stuck from rust and corrosion. I had the same problem and all the repairman did was hit the legs with a screwdriver and it unfroze the legs and fixed the problem!!

Very noisy when on spin. The machine seem to be balanced however the noise on spn is like a jet taking off. it gets louder as the spinning speed increases.

Noisy & shaking spin cycle and smell

The shaking could be your shocks beginning to go bad, an unbalanced load, unbalanced machine, or even possibly weak flooring. As far as the smell you can purchase a product called "AFFRESH" at your local parts distributor which works well to removed the mildew in the gasket. You just put the tablets in and run the machine through a cycle. You could also wipe the gasket out with a wet rag.
Be sure to leave the door cracked open between cycles this will help prevent mildew from building up.
Hope this helps _MJ_

Try this even tho you said it's balanced. Sometimes it looks like but a slight unbalanced can cause this problem.
