Because with a digital camera you need to stay still a beat longer than you do with film. I usually tell folks to count 1.-2. Whentaking a photo. Press the button to activate your shutter, count two. Then move and i bet your ' smear' disappears. It is basically needing time to write the photo before you move. We are all used to film which only captures ligt on chemicals . Once and done. With digital we need to give the mechanics a tiny bit more time to finish. Hope that helped

Kodak Easyshare Z740 turns off while trying to take pictures constantly

There are a few possible reasons why your Kodak Easyshare Z740 camera might be turning off while you are trying to take pictures:
  1. The battery might be low or dead. Try replacing the battery with a fully charged one to see if this fixes the issue.
  2. There might be a problem with the camera's power supply. Try cleaning the battery contacts and charging the battery to see if this fixes the issue.
  3. There might be a problem with the camera's firmware. Try updating the firmware to see if this fixes the issue.
  4. There might be a problem with the camera's hardware. If the camera is still under warranty, you should contact Kodak for service. If the camera is not under warranty, you may need to take it to a repair shop to have it fixed.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

I have changed my kodak c142 batteries and installed new ones becuse previous ones were finished but the camera is now not switching on!!!!!!!!!!!!

This camera takes AA batteries. I can think of two possible causes for this problem.

New rechargeable batteries are supplied only partially charged. You need to charge them fully before use.

With this kind of battery, it is possible to insert one or both of the batteries the wrong way around. There should be a little +/- graphic or picture of a battery on the compartment to show you which way each battery goes.

I have a Kodak Easyshare C180 digital camera. I open ity, take a picture and then it closes. I then cannot get it open again. I see the on/off button but nothing happens

Is the camera LENs won't retract? Try to use a brand new different recomended batteries like alkaline batteries or lithium batteries. If your using a rechargable batteries make sure that they are fully charge. You can also try to turn the camera ON without using memory card. Remove the memory card on the camera. Then put a new recomended battery, try to turn it ON if the camera will not turn ON or stay ON call kodak support line. Support in English and Spanish is available at 1-800-235-6325 (23KODAK)

Kodak Easy Share z712 IS not detecting charged battery

I have the exact same camera almost a year too. It is a total "swinka" on batteries. About 10-15 shots on super ni-cads, and quits without warning.

A pair of Energizer 7X gave me near 500 shots. Much cheaper but still ...

So 4 months ago I bought a charger and 2 rechargeables. Charge one while using the other one.
I may get 70-90 shots per charge on these lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, without flash.

Testing the batteries without a load doesn't really tell you anything.
What's the reading? Should be well over 4 volts when fully charged. Mine show 4.2V
