Water dispencer in fridge not working but ice maker is, why ?
Hi. Activate the water dispenser and listen for the inlet valve to buz. If you hear the inlet valve and do not get water through the dispenser, there is a chance the reservor in the fresh food sections has frozen to block the water.
If the inlet valve does not buz when activated, remove the rear panel and remove the inlet valve. The 5/16" diameter hose will be attached to the solenoid you will need to test. Insert the leads of a voltage meter into the connection on the valve and activate the water dispenser. You should see a reading of 120V to the valve.
If there is voltage and the inlet valve does not respond, you will need to change the valve.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

MOST LIKELY COIL WHICH TURNS ON WATER HAS FAILED, BUT IT IS POSSIBLE TO FREEZE THE WATER IN THE FRIG. TURN FRIG OFF FOR A FEW HOURS WITH FRIG DOOR OPEN AND RETEST TO CHECK THIS FAULT.
TEST THE COIL ON THE WATER VALVE ( THERE ARE TWO IN THE BACK- 1 FOR WATER- 1 FOR ICE)
WITH A MULTIMETER- YOU SHOULD GET A READING THRU IT.
Your
water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the
unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser
button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws.
If that's not it
disconnect the line to the water dispenser at
the water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in and try the
dispenser. if you hear the valve work but water doesn't come out, the valve is
bad. If you don't hear the valve, the dispenser switch is bad.
