SOURCE: New TV won't ''talk to'' old VCR
using the magnovox remote, reprogram the vcr's channels. set it up to use cable not air. when the vcr was unlugged it lost it's channel memory. don't buy new cables, you're getting a picture and sound so that means your rca cables are ok.

Go directly to theback of the set via the back RCA connectors(yellow, red, white) or component video, and turn set on Aux. If it works the tuner is Messed!
SOURCE: wont perform channel search for first time set up.
seems to me you have it on antenna channel search and not cable make sure its on cable and run it again.. If that does not work and your still having difficulties you might want to look to have it repaired.

SOURCE: My flat panel tv will not recognize the co-axal
There isn't a tv signal on that coaxial cable. The other end of it is not connected to anything with an active signal. For example an indoor antenna, or an outdoor antenna, a cable TV company's active TV source (that you are payin for), or a satallite TV company that you are paying for them to turn on, also TV's do not have a built-in satallite tunner to tune in those sattallite channels, you have to use that company's external tunner box. No tunner box = no channels. Even U-Verse No Tunner Box = No TV.
