Windows vista activation problem

This typically happens after the computer has gone through changes, such as a motherboard replacement. Depending on the version of Windows that's installed (OEM vs Retail), you may or may not be able to reactivate Windows.

Your best bet is to call Microsoft and go through the reactivation process.

1. Click Start, and in the Search box type: slui.exe 4
2. Press ENTER on your Keyboard
3. Select your Country.
4. Take the Phone Activation option, and hold on for a real person.

Last time I did this, it took about 15 minutes. Be sure to have paper handy to write down your activation code (it's looong).

When you try to use a Multiple Activation Key (MAK) or the Key Management Service (KMS) to perform Volume Activation on one or more Windows Vista-based computers, you may receive error codes.

This issue may occur if the KMS host is installed, and the KMS host is not activated.

To troubleshoot this issue, verify that the key that is used is the MAK that was provided by Microsoft.

Use online activation or telephone activation to activate the KMS host.

If it's a legitimate copy of Windows you can find information here at Microsoft about obtaining a replacement key.

It is best to you to ask the legal software license but that is your choice. You can use vista offline activator to activate your vista you may find here. use it as your own risk

that code says the Microsoft has that key recorded as already being in use.
