How do i change admin.

Computer administrators have access to make certain changes on a computer that other users may not have.

Administrators have full freedom to install and uninstall programs, move files around and make changes to the Windows registry.

There are actually three ways that one may become the administrator on their computer; during the initial setup, change the settings in the Control Panel or by having the current administrator change the permissions on the account.

Set up an account during the initial setup of Windows on the computer.

During the setup wizard, you will be asked to set up an administrator account.
Choose the account name, user icon and password to set up the administrator account.

Step 1.
Change your account permissions if there isn't an administrator account currently setup.
During some installations Windows users were allowed to install the program without setting up an administrator account.

Click on "Start" then "Control Panel" to open the Control Panel.

Click on "Users and Accounts" or "Users Accounts and Family Safety".
Click on "User Accounts."

Click on "Add or remove user accounts" then "create a new account".

Assign the new account administrative privileges, a user name and password.
Click "OK" and close all windows. Log in under the new Administrator account.

Have the current administrator change your account privileges from "User" to "Administrator". She can do this by following the same steps described in Step 1.

Instead of creating a new account, she must click on your current account and then apply the new permissions.

If you do not currently have an account on the computer, she will need to create you one.

SET UP PASSWORD

Log in to the router's administrative console through a Web browser using the current password and username.

In the router's administrative console, navigate to the appropriate administration / security section where the password setting can be changed. In this example, the Administration tab at the top of the screen contains the Linksys router's password setting.

Choose a suitable password based on the standard guidelines for strong password security. Enter the new password in the Password box, and re-enter the same password a second time in the space provided. Entering the password a second time ensures you did not accidentally type in the wrong password the first time.

The password change is not applied on the router until you save or confirm the change. In this example, click the Save Settings button at the bottom of the page to have the new password take effect. You will see a confirmation window appear briefly to confirm the password change was made successfully. The new password takes effect immediately; rebooting the router is not required.

My daughter has a clamshell laptop and she changed her master password about 2 months ago and can not remember it. Is there anyway to reset the password?

Resetting the original administrator account password Follow these steps to reset a password when there is only one administrator account on the computer, or if the original administrator account (of several) needs a password reset. "Original" administrator account refers to the one that was created immediately after installing Mac OS X. If the original administrator password is known, the original administrator user may reset the passwords of other administrator accounts using the steps described above.
  1. Start up from a Mac OS X Install CD (one whose version is closest the the version of Mac OS X installed). You should first disable Open Firmware password protection, if it is enabled. Hold the C key as the computer starts.
  2. Choose Reset Password from the Installer menu (or Utilities menu in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger). Tip: If you don't see this menu or menu choice, you're probably not started from the CD yet.
  3. Select your Mac OS X hard disk volume.
Set the user name of your original administrator account.

Important: Do not select "System Administrator (root)". This is actually a reference to the root user. Do not confuse it with a normal administrator account.
  • Enter a new password.
  • Click Save.

  • If you want your default keychain to be unlocked automatically when you log in, synchronize your Keychain Access and account login passwords by doing this:
    1. Open Keychain Access (you can get to it by choosing Utilities from the Go menu in the Finder).
    2. From the Edit menu, choose Change Password for Keychain "login."
    3. Type the former password of the account that you are currently logged in to, then click OK.
    4. If you entered the correct password, a new window appears; enter the original password again in the Current Password field.
    5. In the New Password field, type the password that matches your current account password.
    6. Re-enter the newer password in the Verify field, then click OK.
In Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, if you change your account's password using your Mac OS X Tiger Install disc (or if your network-based account password is changed due to a network admin forcing a password change), your default keychain password (which uses the same initial password as your user account) does not change. Because of this, you will be prompted to enter a keychain password each time an application requires authentication that your keychain would normally provide.

I don't remember my original (former) account password If this is the case, you'll have to delete the keychain.
    1. In Keychain Access, choose Keychain List from the Edit menu.
    2. Delete the "login" keychain.
The next time you log in to the account, you can save your current password in a keychain.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
    Thanks, Joe
