My clock will only run with added weight on the clock chain. I added the cuckoo bird weight to the clock weight chain and it keeps good time. If I remove the added weight it will stop.

I think your clock needs to be lubricated. A special light weight oil in a syringe will do the job. Just a little bit will Do.

Not sure if first attempt went through so i will try again. We were moving a sligh grandfather clock and the brass weights fell and the weights inside came out which weights go in which brass?

with most old clocks the weights were a means of moving the gears in the clock instead of using a spring
If I am right , to wind up the clock you pulled one lot of weights down and the weights then slowly changed positions from one up to one down
normally the lh weight is the wind up weight and is slightly lighter the than the rh weight
your problem will be determining the correct weight for the rh side as too heavy and the clock will gain time and too light will loose time

Everytime my self winding runs down, why do I spend hours trying to get started again?

An automatic watch receives it power from the mainspring, which is wound by hand (most watches) and from movement of the arm which causes the Oscillating Weight to spin around and wind the mainspring. The problem is that it takes many, many rotations of the weight to put enough winds on the mainspring to keep it going. If you have not worn the watch for 24 hours you need to put initial winds on the mainspring, either by turning the crown or by swinging the watch around 30-40 times. If the watch is in good mechanical condition, once you put the initial winds on it, you can put it on your wrist and it should run overnight if taken off. Most older Seiko watches cannot be wound by hand.

I have a cartier roadster i opend up the back the rotor dose not turn 360 only 180 is that how its ment to be? Thanks

the bob weight should rotate 360 it sounds like a small screw as come loose and jammed the weight just see if you can nudge it from side to side to see if it releases it, if not you will need to remove the weight to see whats stopping it going round..

How do I wind up my tag carrera automatic using the crown??

Wow, how wrong yall are.

There are three positions for the Carrera's push-down crown. The inner position is used for normal wear and winding. To wind the crown manually, simply rotate it clockwise.

Changing the date on the Carrera is done from the middle crown position. Turn the crown clockwise to advance the date, one day at a time. Push the crown back to the inner position when finished.

The outer crown position is used for setting the time. You can turn the crown in this position either clockwise or counter-clockwise. Adjust the time forward or backwards. Setting the time backwards will not damage the watch. When the time is correct, press the crown all the way into the inner position.

Winding an Etica AU700503

This watch is automatic and should not need winding although some can be wound by hand.

If there is no option to wind it up then gently shake it from side to side (turn it over and you should be able to see the weight rotating and winding up the watch).

It may take some time to fully wind the watch. If the weight does not move the it is faulty and should be returned to the maker.

Back panel came off and wont go back on

Align the caseback exactly as it was before you opened it. Make sure thet the groove for stem is in correct position. Lay the napkin on the flat table surface, put the watch on it (dial down) and using both hands and your body weight push the caseback down back in place. Remember: the side of the caseback wich first came out must be last pushed in.
Do not use very soft napkin (towel) as this can brake the glass under the pressure.
If all above described DO NOT work, then there is not enough power in your hands or not enough weight in your body and you will need watchmakers help (he/she will be using special watch press to close the watch).
P.S. Do not get upset if you can not close it; I'm very expierenced watchmaker and very often came across the watches wich I was not able to close without the watch press (even my arms are quite strong and the weight is 95kg).

Do not forget to rate, please.
