I have called repairman and he can find nothing wrong and did not fix. Do you have any idea what would be causing that and what I can do to fix, what part do I purchase?

Remove the screws from the bracket from the vent tube at the back of the dryer.
You can access the belt from there.
If the belt is off then the tensioner will push a switch to shut the dryer down.
Just hook the belt back on or replace the belt whatever needs to be done.
See other posts for this model number on how to connect the belt back if it came off.
They do that when turned the wrong direction.

I have the same problem--it is the heating element. Bad news is they don't make the part anymore. The solution from maytag.com is to buy a new one and they will reimburse you 15%...not a very good solution considering how much this one cost and the amount of years it has been used.
If you find a place that sells the heating element please post!

Yes, I just changed thermal fuse on the same model . . . take off the front door, the front panel and there it is; attached to the vent tube with a flimsy bracket
